Artem, but you also read the forum threads about promotion of the artist?
I, frankly, not even cleverly somehow speak to a topic already beaten.

The article states that the exhibition presented at the diaries and letters of the artist just expose the myth created about Munch. What neurosis artist is nothing but PR. And that Munch is very wisely built his career
(Jay Clarke, curator of the exhibition and associate curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute)
Good that you read and discover something new. Such articles in the press "a lot. About Munch's written more than half a century. In this case, the curators of the exhibition wanted to emphasize that the neurotic element is not overshadowed his rational ability to build a career that is absolutely true. But neuroses Munch - this is not PR, but sometimes they exaggerate. People interested in such juicy topics, especially when the depressive content of the work provokes interest. From a scientific point of view we can only trust information from scientists - scholars of Munch. They - not so much. At the Munch museum site has links to the works munkovedov R. Heller (American) and A. Eggum (Norwegian). A slight but significant Fiction - a book by A. Ness "Edvard Munch. Biography of the artist." Review of the book - in the section "Books on art."

По умолчанию Women inspired geniuses!

Women, inspired genius

History of art owes much to women. They have inspired and guarded their talented husbands, copied manuscripts and endured an endless succession of models. This story is very different women - the power Gala, aristocratic power Olga Khokhlova, dedicated to the renunciation Lydia Delectorskaya, as well as the faithful companion and a brilliant administrator Vera Slonim. And at the intersection of their fates response to this troubling question: "What is to be a muse?"

It created Dali

Among women muse Gala, or Elena Dyakonov, occupies a special place. Just two genius devoted himself to her without reserve, just two of the genius to create masterpieces in the name of it - Salvador Dali and Paul Eluard.

Читать дальше...
The majority of Russian wives of famous men differed virtuous disposition, compassion, sacrifice, spirituality and tact. Gala was unbearable. "We must remember that I was hysterical, and that for my age and my physical strength I was too nervous. Every detail brings me from myself "- she admitted in a letter. And later: "I'm so stupid and foolish, even proud of it." She lovingly planted in childhood, a sense of exclusivity. Most of all she was afraid of forgetting, so brilliant and shocking, and strove always to be in the spotlight and keep the views, if not charm, the crazy ideas.

It created Gala genius Paul Eluard. She believed in his genius, and gradually accustomed to the idea of himself. She made Eluard published in fashion magazine first verse, and then put up all his antics - from the series of betrayals before the attacks of insane love. She learned to be a muse, patiently and with full vigor.

And already the next genius of her deified and glorified for centuries no less than his own name. Gala was the salt of my life, cemented my personality, my beacon, my twin, me "- wrote Salvador Dali. From self-doubt, vicious and absurd young man who could not cross the road and fell several times a day, it is the force of his temperament has created a very eccentric genius in the history of art.

Later in the memoirs of contemporaries would write that Gala was greedy, narcissistic and depraved witch, which created Dali and ruined it. But I do not remember the names of contemporaries. They will not remember my grandchildren. And the name "Gala" will be inextricably linked with the "Dali", because the muse can not assess the presence or absence of the usual virtues. Its uniqueness is manifested in a completely different dimension.

Madame Picasso

It was quite ordinary. Aristocrat, capable of ballet. Capacity, it nevertheless more. Defying her parents became a ballerina Olga Khokhlova, and toured with Diaghilev's troupe of all Europe. She did not know the outstanding successes, it was a lot of corps de ballet, and perhaps why Picasso, who worked on the scenery, did not immediately spotted it among the slim ladies.

Picasso was 36, he was tired of passionate women and bohemian beauties, and so was delighted with a calm and quite ordinary Olga. He did not leave her on a step, he wrote her portraits and did everything possible to this cold Russian woman finally drew attention to it. Virtuous courtship ended with a proposal, and Olga, brought up in strict rules, finally agreed.

Olga Picasso withdrawn in the light. She forced him to change the paint spattered overalls for suits best tailors. She has done everything to ensure that the family was perfect and completely consistent with high society: furnish an apartment to your liking, gave birth to a son of Pablo and took care of the secular image of the artist.

It became fashionable, one of his appearance on a secular event promises to last prestige. But the art of much greater importance is the neoclassical period in the works of Picasso, whose inspiration was Olga. Later, the artist will write the other portraits and carried away with new and new a model, but the divorce was not followed - will Khokhlova Madame Picasso until his death.

Assistant to Matisse

When orphan Lydia Delektorskaya fled from Tomsk to Europe, she did not know the language, had no savings and does not represent its future destiny. Once at the bus stop in Nice, she was talking with a Russian girl and she said that the artist Henri Matisse requires assistant. Matisse and his wife was then over sixty, and without the aid he was not indispensable.

Lydia completely versed in painting, but the artist gave her a roof over his head and earnings, and therefore it was necessary to become an indispensable assistant. Every year the artist was getting worse. Lydia took care of the whole family, and only thanks to her perseverance Matisse did not stop writing even in the midst of World War II.

Eventually he began to write her portraits, and Lydia did not leave him a single step. Young, beautiful woman and not think about how to start a family and friends, she even had nowhere to spend money.

Matisse's wife could not stand the permanent residence of Lydia in their house and left. We also know that in the life of Lydia was not a single man after Matisse. For the artist, she became the most important woman, inspiration and invaluable, "more than a wife." He died at the hands of Lydia, and only then she left his house.

The memory and the voice of Vladimir Nabokov

Musa - a vocation. Profession, if you like. Vera Slonim Nabokov had his right hand, his memory, his voice, his best editor and the most devoted reader. Once Vera and Vladimir Nabokov came to dinner for their parents and say a matter between: "This morning we were married, and those with the most far its main concern became immersed in the art, the scattered and forgetful husband.

It is easy to carry vital disorder of emigrant families. Nabokov did not know how to drive, and Vera learned. Nabokov could not typing, and Vera for days recorded and transcribed his novels. Nabokov basically did not want to learn German, and Vera had to do it for him. Nabokov did not know how to use the phone, and instead always said Vera. In addition, in order to provide a creative family tolerable existence, she managed to work in a law office, print, republish, shorthand notes and translating. And always wore a revolver in the bag: it must be the same fragile beauty to protect my family ...

Nabokov differed unimportant memory. Vera came with him to every lecture (in one hand and elbow Nabokov, in another - books, materials, syllabus), would sit in the front row and tells all the quotations that the husband could never remember. Look Nabokov all the time, was constantly aimed at her and, indeed, all his lectures were given only to her.

Nabokov would not take place without faith. Every minute of her life was held in a solid record keeping: it organize text, edited, got thrown out of the basket in hot haste manuscript from under mountains of paper were removed long ago forgotten unfinished novels, saving them from oblivion. She led all the correspondence of Nabokov, who was engaged in negotiations with the editors and was tried with unscrupulous publishers. While the writer was working on novels, Vera maintained his life and the lives they created worlds.

We Nabokov was a complex character. With him not get along, no one, at some point he began to hate even close friends, and only Faith has until the very end to live with him in enviable harmony. Once between Nabokov and the young tamer poodles had a hasty affair, but the author quickly realized his mistake and have since never left his precious wife. And even in old age, the couple looked like young lovers, united by a common work - poetry, prose, art and life.

If we had the opportunity to ask these women - it is difficult to be a muse, we certainly would have heard a negative response. After all, when you love, nothing is impossible.

По умолчанию Picasso and his women. Especially for Meister with deep respect

A couple of weeks ago, a yellow journal "7 Days" published an article about the great Picasso and his women. There were photos of some of his paintings. Olga Khokhlova, his wife did not like cubism, so only her, he wrote in the classical manner.
Meister, I give you similar information from the newspaper "Top Secret". And never turn into a Picasso: eek:

In France, just declassified a dossier, instigated by the French detective on Pablo Picasso and his wife, Olga Khokhlova. History of long-term surveillance of the artist was revealed after the Paris from Moscow returned 20 tons of French archives, with more than 900 thousand records. (At first they were stolen from the Germans occupied Paris, and the spring of 1945 they found Soviet soldiers and taken to Moscow.) Among the returned - the Rothschild family archives, Leon Blum, Andre Maurois, Masonic lodges and various associations. Among the latter arrived on the bank of the Seine and the case of Picasso ". Individual archives back to families, and some of the material studied French counter-intelligence to identify hypothetical contacts between the French and the Land of the Soviets. Olivier Picasso, grandson of the artist, together with an expert on the works of his grandfather, Pierre Dax intend to publish these Dossier Police Prefecture (1901-1940) "that shed light on the unknown facts in the biography of Maitre.

The genius under a cap.
Paris police spies can not be denied in the subtle flair. They have taken aim at 20-year-old Picasso 5 May 1901, when he arrived at the bank of the Seine its first exhibition. Already on May 18, Police Commissioner chef 3rd Brigade reported to the authorities that a man Pablo Ruiz-Picasso, and settled on the top floor of house number 130 on the Boulevard de Clichy in the anarchist Pierre Manasha, his fellow countryman. Commissioner of Police sketched a portrait painter, and even tells about one of his last paintings, which depicted soldiers beating a beggar. Picasso, he said, was visiting unknown person. Every night he goes home, comes back late, and sometimes do not spend the night at home. Special reports devoted to the political views of the artist. The detective is convinced that Picasso shares the belief Manasha and therefore should also be considered an anarchist.

In September 1911 Picasso was interrogated about kept his old statues stolen in the Louvre in 1907 Zheri Pierre, secretary of Guillaume Apollinaire. Pierre gave them Picasso, who at that time worked on the famous painting "The Young Girls of Avignon". The scandal broke 4 years later, when the Italian painter of the Louvre has been stolen "Mona Lisa". Apollinaire interrogated, detained for a few days behind bars. They called the police and Picasso, but left in the wild.

Suspicion of the secret police had increased after the spring of 1917, Pablo met in Rome, which arrived for work on the ballet "Parade" to the music of Erik Satie, with Russian ballerina Olga Khokhlova. When they decided to get married, the police, before giving the necessary consent, conducted an investigation: "He lives in the house number 22 on the street Victor Hugo in Montrouge, which is paid 1,800 francs a year. Works by the artist and receives an average of 25 francs a day. Neighbors say about him only good. For France is sympathetic. Dossier Picasso and his wife assigned the number 74664.

By the time of getting acquainted with Picasso Khokhlova five years already served in the famous troupe of Serge Diaghilev. Dancer, she was diligent and disciplined, had good technique, but never accept and, except for a few more or less prominent parties acted in the corps de ballet.
"My grandmother Olga Khokhlova was born in the Ukrainian city Nizhin in the family of Colonel of the Russian Imperial Army - Marina Picasso told me when I was in her guest at the villa in Cannes. - Contrary to the parent's request, Olga, who was very beautiful, has become a ballet dancer and received an invitation from the Diaghilev troupe. He introduced her to Picasso ". Diaghilev liked to have in his company were the girls from "good families".
Olga has good manners and a special Slavic "charm", which is always valued in Europe. She had a pleasing appearance, regular features, although krupnovaty chin gave him a certain weight and possibly gave her character - a hard, strong and stubborn.
Picasso at this time was already a famous artist. Among the first to truly appreciate his works of Russian philosophers, critics and collectors. Even in 1914 a brilliant analysis of his works made Berdyaev. At the same time Sergei Shchukin and Ivan Morozov began to acquire the artist's paintings, which are now in the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum. Serge Diaghilev, who was able to bring to work on their ballet for the "Russian Seasons" most famous, Picasso invited formalize ballet "Parade" directed by Leonid Massine. "I have 60 dancers - reported, not without pride Picasso of American writer Gertrude Stein. - I am going to bed late. I know all the women of Rome. But about Olga artist for a time was silent.

How did it happen, they doubted his friends, that Picasso fell in love with a ballerina, which, in their opinion, in any respect was not remarkable personality? Artist, enjoyed in Paris, noisy and even notoriety, was then 36 years. Perhaps, satiated with love and not too selective in relations painter is ordinary, commonplace Olga seemed "exotic". At that time he was searching for a friend an oasis of calm to escape from the eternal burning passion and solutions important task, which set itself in painting.

Considerable importance was the fact that Olga was Russian. In those years, Picasso, revolutionary in the art, extremely interested in everything Russian. He even planned to learn the language of this mysterious for the country. The artist has followed closely the developments in Russia, the February Revolution, the abdication of the king. Apparently, in his eyes, all this gave the ballerina romantic-revolutionary flair. Finally, the influence and the very atmosphere of Russian ballet, are extremely sensuality, his friendship with Diaghilev, Bakst and especially with Stravinsky, whom he had admired. Picasso said that despises all music except for flamenco, but was shocked by the Sacre du Printemps.

Olga Picasso got carried away with all his usual temperament. "Watch out - warned him with a grin Diaghilev - Russian girls to be married. "You're joking," - replied the artist, who claimed that he always remains the master of the situation. In Rome, Picasso met Olga every day, making it a long walk in the Eternal City. But the ballerina was in no hurry to respond to the tumultuous feelings of the artist, although she liked Picasso. Women are attracted to him a special magnetism, inner fire, his eyes black eyes, which, according to Cocteau, was "charged with electricity. Despite the fact that Olga was not very interested in art, Picasso's fame impresses her. Moreover, she realized that a career in ballet it is not done and to think about the device family hearth. But would Picasso with his bohemian past a good husband? "Can an artist be a man serious?" - Harassed Diaghilev Olga's mother, on learning that her daughter is going to marry Picasso. "No less serious than a ballerina" - he laughed it off.

Selection Olga.
In 1943 Picasso met the painter Francoise Gilot.

Meanwhile, in May 1917 in a Paris theater "Chatelet" the premiere of "Parade". Hardly for it was chosen the most opportune moment. Just 300 kilometers from the capital, heavy fighting continued for the French army from advancing Germans. On the play came to "all Paris" - the name of Diaghilev's effect on the audience like a magnet. In the hall were Russian officers, who were on vacation. Ballet, which, according to Ilya Ehrenburg, resembled "a booth at the fair with acrobats, jugglers, magicians and a trained horse, ended in scandal. The public was indignant and shouted "Death to Russian!".

This method did not embarrass Diaghilev, who took the Parade in Madrid and Barcelona. For ballet, and was followed to Olga Picasso. There, he drew a lot of it in a manner entirely realistic, as urged by the ballerina herself, who did not like her strange experiments in painting. "I want to - she said - to recognize his face." In Barcelona, Picasso introduced to Olga with her mother. She adopted a Russian girl, warmly, and walked to the performances with her participation, but once warned: "With my son, who was created just for myself and for anyone else, can not be happy with any woman." In Barcelona, the artist painted a portrait of Olga in the Spanish mantilla, which gave the mother.

When the Russian ballet went to Latin America, Olga decided to stay. The choice between the hard lives of ordinary dancer and marriage with the famous and successful painter was made. Returning to France, they settled in a small house in the Paris suburb of Montrouge - with the maid, dogs, birds and thousands of different items, which were followed everywhere by the artist. Olga spoke bad French, albeit with a strong Russian accent, and liked to listen to long fantastic stories, which she told Pablo. It is in Montrouge, he wrote the famous "Portrait of Olga in an armchair, which is now exhibited in the Paris Picasso Museum. Comparing it with a photograph taken at the time of posturing, it is easy to see that the artist embellished several features of the original.

Many friends tried to dissuade from Picasso's marriage to Olga, anticipating that he will fail. The artist did not heed their advice. July 12, 1918 in the City Hall 7 th district of Paris was the marriage ceremony. The wedding took place in the Orthodox Alexander Nevski Cathedral, among the guests and witnesses were Diaghilev, Apollinaire, Cocteau, Gertrude Stein, Matisse. Picasso was convinced that he would marry for life, and therefore in his marriage contract includes articles about the fact that their property - general. In the case of divorce, it implied the section equally, including all pictures.

After the wedding the couple moved into a large apartment in the heart of Paris on the streets of La Boesi, near the gallery where Picasso exhibited. Olga was a born hostess, began to furnish an apartment, guided by its taste. Husband did not intervene. He contented himself with bringing in a mess in the workshop floor below, spreading wherever collections of various objects and spreading on the walls of their works and paintings by Renoir, Matisse, Cezanne, Rousseau.

In September 1918, Picasso and Olga went to London together with the Russian ballet. Diaghilev showed there "Parade" and worked on the new ballet "Trikorn", for which the artist did the sets and costumes. Together with the company they lived in an expensive hotel "Savoy" and the evening went from one reception to another. Picasso and his young wife everywhere in the limelight and is gradually drawn into the vortex of worldly life, which was so fond of Olga. He ordered a set of costumes, took to wearing an impeccable tuxedo, appeared at receptions in a pot and a gold watch in his waistcoat pocket, in short, was no less buck than his friend Stravinsky. Olga at any time, even managed to alienate the artist from his bohemian friends. Once he saw himself in the mirror and sighed, saying softly: "Monsieur Ingres ..."

At the fire of creativity.

Many of the images of those years his classicism and flawless perfection reminiscent of Jean-Auguste Ingres. In other notable element of caricature. The artist seemed to follow the advice of Van Gogh, who wrote to his brother Theo: "exaggerate the most significant. He himself said: "The quests in the paintings have no meaning. It is only important discoveries ... We all know that art is not truth. Art - a lie, but this lie teaches us to comprehend the truth. At least the one we humans can comprehend. " At this time, Picasso's portraits of Diaghilev, Stravinsky, Bakst, Cocteau. Olga, he painted for his first lithograph, which was used for the invitation card for his exhibition.

Gradually unbridled artistic nature Picasso came into conflict with the secular-elitist lives, which he had to. He wanted to have a family, loved his wife. But gradually there is a conflict with Olga, caused by the fact that the artist did not want to be burdened with conditionalities, which hindered his creativity. He wanted to be completely free man and was willing to sacrifice for the sake of the rest. Olga has had bad relations with most of the friends of Picasso, except Apollinaire, who died in November 1918 after being seriously wounded at the front.

February 4, 1921 at the couple's son, Paul. So in 40 years of Picasso first became a father. This event excited him, unexpectedly for himself filled with pride. He made countless drawings of his son and his wife, marking them not only the day, but hour. All of them are made in the neoclassical style, and the women in his image reminiscent of the Olympic gods. Olga also belonged to a child with an almost morbid passion and adoration. She hoped that the birth of his son will strengthen their family in the basement which showed the first cracks.

Olga felt as if her husband is slowly returning to his inner world - the world of art, in which she had no access. From time to time, she organized the stormy scenes of jealousy. Picasso kept to himself and seemed to cut himself off from the wife of an invisible wall. In fact, his whole life was the main passion of creativity in the name of which he was willing to sacrifice everything. He often recalled the history of the French ceramist Bernard de Palis, who lived in the XVI century, which is to maintain the fire in the oven during baking their creations was thrown into their furniture. Picasso liked the story and saw it as a true example of "burning" in the name of art. He himself claimed that would have thrown in the oven and his wife, and children - if only it did not quench the fire.

Working with the Russian ballet contributed to the famous artist and, according to experts, has enriched his talent. In April 1925, Picasso, along with Olga and her son went to Monte Carlo to Diaghilev. There, at rehearsals, he again began to paint ballerinas. Perhaps returning to the world of Russian ballet, he was hoping to find harmony in the relationship with Olga? But her return was impossible. Seeing the indifference of her husband, Olga lost her calm, nervous, and even more irritated by Picasso, who wanted to get rid of her tiresome care. In short, the artist was tired and every day more and more weary married.

Church, bullfights, a brothel.

In January 1927, on the street, the crowd, emerging from the underground, Picasso saw a beautiful girl with gray-blue eyes. "He grabbed my hand and said:" I'm Picasso! You and I together made great things "- later recalled Marie-Therese Walter. She was then 17 years. She knew nothing about art or about Picasso. Her interests were quite different - swimming, gymnastics, biking, climbing.

Began greatest passion in the life of Picasso, who knew neither boundaries nor taboos. Indulging in this mad passion, the artist was trying to forget Olga, delete it from your life.

Women and Picasso - are devoted to this subject in the West, many serious studies of a scandalous nature. In the long life of the artist, who had hundreds of love affairs and has a great sexual magnetism, the vital role played by seven women. In this respect his life as it confirms the proverb, according to which Spain is a country in which men despise sex, but live for it. "In the morning - a church, day - corrida, in the evening - a brothel" - the credo of the Spanish macho religiously adhered to Picasso. The artist himself said that art and sexuality are one and the same.

The artist once admitted that he shared all of the fair sex in the "goddesses" and "floor mats. He is a special pleasure to turn one into the other, wiping his feet on them, and they, "goddess," not only allowed him to do it, but enjoy it. It was extremely well developed instinct for destruction. His mistresses became the wife of his close friends, sometimes with their consent, as, for example, was the second wife of Paul Eluard - Nyush. And his whole life was marked by fighting instincts of creation and destruction. "I think that I die, never let anyone in love" - once said of Picasso. However, the artist liked to say that only prolong the life and work of women. "Every time I change a woman - said Picasso, - I have to burn that, that was the last. So I get rid of them. It is possible, and returns me to the youth.

However, almost all of these statements Maitre should gulp. In them many outrageous. Still, with women frequently prevailed is destructive beginning. Suicide Marie-Therese Walter, his second wife, Jacqueline, nervous depression suffered Olga, the artist Dora Maar, who was his mistress during the creation of "Guernica" ...

Loneliness.

But back to Olga. Hatred for her Picasso began to vent his paintings. In a series of paintings devoted to bullfighting, he portrayed her as a horse, the old shrew. Explaining the reasons for their breakup later, the artist says: "It is too much of me wanted ... It was the worst period in my life. " Nonetheless, Picasso did not want a divorce. Complete break with at least a part of the past for him meant a kind of death, which always filled him with fear. In addition, the divorce would lead to the loss of half his fortune, and most importantly - pictures. And Olga officially until his death remained the wife of Picasso.

In 1943 Picasso met the painter Francoise Gilot, who was only 21 years old. For several years she became his new muse. It was another blow for Olga, who continued to be jealous ex-husband for all his new passion. She wrote him angry notes on a mixture of Spanish, French and Russian, the contents of which boiled down to the fact that Picasso's awful down. Usually it is applied to the messages of the image of Rembrandt or Beethoven with a comment that he would never be as great as they are. In the Paris Picasso Museum are stored more than a hundred letters to Olga, addressed to her husband, but access to them yet closed. Familiarity with them will undoubtedly help to better understand their relationship, the role his wife played in the artist's life, and the reasons for their breakup.

Summer Olga went to the Mediterranean town, where Picasso lived and Francoise Gilot with their son, Claude, and on the heels of a young woman. That silently endured insults, for they realized that Olga suffered from loneliness and despair. In 1949 a Francoise Gilot daughter Paloma was born, but three weeks later, Picasso began his grandfather - a son, Paul, who in honor of the artist was given the name of Pablo, but was usually called Pablito. Paul Picasso spent the entire war in Switzerland and returned to Paris after his release. He did not have any work, besides, he drank heavily and used drugs. In 1954, following a serious inflammation of the lungs, he was on the verge of death. Doctor Picasso sent a telegram to urgently come to Cannes. No answer.

"The drama of my father (Paul Picasso. - Ed.) Was that - was telling Marina Picasso - that his whole life he was completely dependent on the great master of every month, humiliated, had to ask him for money." Brilliant artist, apparently, could not forgive his son that he was an ordinary man, devoid of any talent. Financially dependent parents, of course, for many years have felt, and Marina Picasso, who with his brother and mother lived more than modestly in the southern town of Golfe juan. In relations with relatives and friends Maitre, according to his granddaughter, scrupulously adhered to the principle "I - all of you - nothing!".

"The relationship with my grandfather we have evolved very difficult - recalls Marina. - I agree with him did not really have any contacts. When, after graduating from high school wanted to enter the Medical Faculty, Picasso told a secretary that he does not have to pay for my studies ... For a long time I thought he was guilty of premature death of his father and mother's ruined life.

Olga Khokhlova in recent years lived in Cannes in complete solitude. It is long and painfully hurt and February 11, 1955, died of cancer at the city hospital. At the funeral came only to her son and several friends. Picasso at this time in Paris, completing the picture "Algerian women" and did not come.

Again together.

Pablo Picasso died on April 8, 1973. He was 91 year. Shortly before his death was distinguished by the prophetic gift of the artist said: "My death will be a shipwreck. When the great ship dies, all that is around him, is drawn into the funnel. It happened. His grandson Pablito requested permission to attend the funeral, but the last artist's wife Jacqueline Rock refused. On the day of the funeral Pablito drank a bottle of dekoloranom - decolorant chemical liquid. When he was taken to hospital, doctors noted that he had burned his insides. Three months into it sustained life thanks to the continuous operations and transplanting, which paid for Marie-Therese Walter. Save Pablito failed. He was buried in the same grave in the cemetery at Cannes, where lie the remains of Olga.

June 6, 1975 died from cirrhosis of the liver 54-year-old Paul Picasso. His two children - Marina and Bernard, Pablo Picasso's last wife Jacqueline and three illegitimate children - Maya (the daughter of Marie-Therese Walter), Claude and Paloma (children of Francoise Gilot) - were recognized as the artist's heirs. Began the long battle over the estate, which was estimated at 260 million dollars, a figure greatly underestimated for tax reasons. This is a total of 50 thousand works - paintings, sculptures, ceramics and paintings. The largest proportion - three-tenths - was Jacqueline Picasso, while the grandchildren, Marina and Bernard, - two-tenths of the total. In addition, all the heirs were entitled to take as a souvenir of one artist's work. Marina has selected the picture, which shows a very young her grandmother Olga.

October 20, 1977 in the garage of his home in the Mediterranean town of Juan-les-Pins hanged Marie-Therese Walter, who was 68 years old. On the eve of the opening of another exhibition of the artist in Madrid on October 15, 1986 at 3 o'clock in the morning in his bed, shot herself Jacqueline Picasso.

Marina Picasso, the famous mansion inherited his grandfather "Residence of the King" in Cannes, lives there with older daughter and son and three adopted children, Vietnamese. It does not make any distinction between them and have already made a will in which all her vast fortune after his death will be divided into five equal parts. Maryna created bearing the name of its fund, which built on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh village of 24 houses for 360 Vietnamese orphans.

Love for children - emphasizes Marina - I inherited from my grandmother. Olga was the only person from the whole clan of Picasso, who belonged to us, our grandchildren, with affection and attention. And his book "Children living at the edge of the world" in many respects I wrote in order to restore its good name. About Olga in her life, including by Picasso, has been said so many wrong ...»
