Interestingly, this company publishes tales in "authentic" version. For example, in "Snow Queen" (as it turned out!) Is the episode when Gerda seeking Kaya during a snowstorm. The girl, in despair, kneels and reads "Our Father ...", then there are the angels who protect it. Soviet censorship is, of course, to edit. You can not be instilled in children that prayer helps! Therefore, those who are familiar with the tale of a Soviet books /cartoons, did not know all the details of adventures Gerda: p

Default Ukraine - the chief guest at MKVYA in 2008.

Alas, interesting books Ukrainian publishing houses in Russia hardly supplied. Except for mass commercial publications of the same type Coelho. I do not argue, illustrations are good, but collectively, this book does not pull on a masterpiece of printing.

Politika.Politika ....

In 2008 in September in Moscow, VVC (VDNH) held the International Book Fair. In that year the chief guest of the exhibition was Ukraine. The organizers even went to the unusual move, giving instead of the usual concrete and glass pavilion for the exposition of the old Soviet pavilion "Ukraine", made in the style of Stalinist architecture and richly decorated.

Perhaps I can quite professionally to talk about books, as fond of collecting rare and interesting books published today. Do not confuse them with the gift assortment for the "new Russian" in the skin and gold. A full-fledged co-writer of this book stands illustrator. It is desirable that the illustrations were commissioned by the contemporary artist and printed. Mass repetitions and reprints of old pictures masterpiece of printing can not be considered. In Russia there are hundreds of publishers - and only a few of them make a decent and interesting products.

Book Exposition of Ukraine "striking":

1) Many books in Ukrainian. I doubt that it was interesting to visitors and potential buyers in Moscow.
2) There are many historical books on the "new history of Ukraine": Mazepa, Hetman, Bandera, Shushkevich ....
3) I could find only one book worthy of purchase as an interesting example of printing - Gogol. But ... he asked for a high price (about 7000 rubles, about $ 280), which does not correspond to its level. I decided that the money I'll buy a few books as good as other publishers (eg, Vita Nova, SP-B).
4) Price-based criteria also unpleasantly astonished. I looked thin. album of the Kiev Museum of Russian Art. Sorry, I can be wrong a little bit with the title, because I am writing from memory. But he asked for from 10 to 12 thousand rubles. (about 400-500 dollars), which does not fit into the retail stores prices for albums museums level Hermitage, the Prado, the Louvre, the Uffizi ... which retail price of USD 2500-3000. (100 VE).
Besides, the exhibition, many publishers offer special prices. So, I brought more than 60 kg. thin. albums, almanacs Russian Museum (SP-B) at prices ranging from 100 to 800 rubles.!

It was frankly boring. People no longer be considered the dark interiors of the Stalinist or pavilion argued the photo-exhibition, which occupied half of the book exhibition. But the same Bendera, genocide and famine, modern photography pensioners Bendera and SS-ovtsev against the background of the monuments of the same - not the best option for the book exhibition.

A solid and brutal policies. This is hardly benefited from Ukraine.
It is better to see once again the Soviet "Pinocchio."

Even as the subject! And censorship of anti-religious. In the 90 years of Andersen's fairy tales published book - softcover, almost on newsprint, in a pink cover with some Belen'kiy pattern. There was a wonderful translation, and full, without the censor cuts. The amazing beauty of fairy tales, not those to which we are accustomed to from childhood. But alas, the book gave a reading to someone ... 's All. Who - do not remember.
