Iosif Ostrovsky - one of the best and world-renowned artists in Odessa, a landmark name in the history of artistic life in Odessa, the second half of the twentieth century. Pictures of Joseph Ostrowski collect Arkady and Konstantin Raikin, Alexander Kaidanovsky, Zinovy Gerdt, Peter Todorovski, Mikhail Kazakov, Zhvanetski.

Moscow is the first exhibition of I. Ostrovsky. It includes more than 50 works by the artist, written in 60-70-ies. and in recent years, the artist's life in Israel.

Iosif Ostrovsky was born in 1935 in the Jewish Sudilkovo (about Shepetovka), which in Soviet times, remained loyal to Jewish tradition. Draw started early and already in 15 years enrolled in the scenic department of the Odessa Art College. His main teacher was a wonderful artist Dina M. Frumin, who considered Ostrovsky one of the most striking and original of the pupils. After graduation Iosif Ostrovsky served in the army, joined the Union of Artists.
Landscapes of the 1970's with their clarity of air, calligraphic outlines of the trees have a sense of reverence before the winter beauty of Russian nature. These poetic and philosophical paintings of nature by association in tune with winter landscape by Pieter Bruegel, where the earthly world is presented in its greatness and purity.
In the 60-70-ies. Ostrowski asked the Jewish theme. World artisans, musicians, sages - all those around him when he was a child - was embodied in the remarkable "Jewish cycle", consisting of several hundred paintings. These works are perceived as a philosophical parable. As written, MN Kogan, in his article about this cycle: "Work is a distinctive sign. Mark rights with books. Violinist Mark. The sign painter. Sign of Jerusalem. Sign heritage. In his works, a high proportion of conditionality: a convention of language that understandable at a glance, with a semi-sight ".

In recent years, the life and work of Joseph Ostrowski took place in Israel, where his art was quite in demand. The artist died in 1993 in the prime of his creative powers.
