Iosif Ostrovsky was born in 1935 in the Jewish Sudilkovo (about Shepetovka), which in Soviet times, remained loyal to Jewish tradition. Draw started early and already in 15 years enrolled in the scenic department of the Odessa Art College. His main teacher was a wonderful artist Dina M. Frumin, who considered Ostrovsky one of the most striking and original of the pupils. After graduation Iosif Ostrovsky served in the army, joined the Union of Artists.
Landscapes of the 1970's with their clarity of air, calligraphic outlines of the trees have a sense of reverence before the winter beauty of Russian nature. These poetic and philosophical paintings of nature by association in tune with winter landscape by Pieter Bruegel, where the earthly world is presented in its greatness and purity. In the 60-70-ies.
