Valentin Mikhailovich Yustitsky was born in 1892 in St. Petersburg, the son of a lawyer. After graduating from the Corps of Pages, he studied at art school Goldblatt.
In 1913-1914 in Paris, he took private lessons in sculpture.
In 1915-1918 Yustitsky lived in Moscow. Actively participated in the exhibitions of the Moscow Association of Artists, the Futurist Exhibition "Shop", in the salons of "Unicorn".
In 1918, the People's Commissar of Education Lunacharsky was sent to Saratov "create a proletarian art."
The artist lived in Saratov until 1935, where he headed the studio painting and drawing at Saratov Proletkult, and later became a professor at the Free State art workshops. Performed a series of paintings "planimetric Structures" (1921-1922). In the early 1920 Yustitsky, fascinated by "dynamic architecture", participated in the competition for the design of rolling monument to the victims of the Revolution, dreamed of building a moving bridge across the Volga. At the same time served as a director, artist and composer in the theater "POEHMA" (Theater of poets, musicians and actors), organized a futuristic "Noise Orchestra".
Since 1936 he lived in Moscow. Worked in one of the best publishers of this period «Academia», illustrating books by French writers Flaubert to Proust, M.. In 1937 he was arrested and sentenced.
Valentin Mikhailovich Yustitsky survived 9 years of Stalin's terror camps, a long separation from the audience, the prohibition of creativity, silence and the fate of the name. Long rejected by their "brothers of the brush" and as "ideological saboteurs" has been banned from teaching. Only after the liberation in 1946, he returned to Saratov, where he lead the art studio.
