Oleg Tails (b. 1972) - a self-taught artist. At school, he drew caricatures of teachers and classmates, at age 17, stunned landscapes Shishkin, decided to become like him. "How Shishkin" did not work: first with the path of realism knocked garde, then aktsionist of the St. Petersburg Association "New Stupid" distinguished themselves in the 90 years of their shares absurdist sense. "Stupid" Tails, in the end, left - the collective creativity of the individual rather primitive.

He served in the Northern Fleet, where he first became acquainted with the art of the avant-garde in naval art studio. Since mid-November 1996 to early January 1997 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts preparatory courses (Faculty of Architecture), and after that, becoming a professional, continued his creative work independently.

The first "independent" of the work appeared in 1995 - the views of Palace Square, still-life with bottles of liquor. In 1997 he took a picture of their best work and showed them to the gallery "Northwind" on the Foundry. The very next day, these works have been exhibited and demonstrated there for a few months. There's also been seen members of the radical art group "New stupid", which was immediately invited to join their ranks. Because of this, received the "green light" to all exhibition sites of Modern Art St. Petersburg at the time.

Only in 1998 as part of "stupid" has taken part in more than 50 exhibitions, art events and performances. Was seen leadership gallery «Navicula Artis», in the spring of 1999, the first solo exhibition "Self-portraits - 200 1."

In 2000 he left the "new stupid" and entirely focused on painting. Created a large series of self-portraits, which today number about 10,000. In 2001, with the assistance of Florensky in the creative center "Mitka-VHUTEMAS" an exhibition "1000 self-portrait." In 2003, in the gallery "Northwind" during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg hosted the exhibition "3000 self-portrait." These self-portraits have become an important part of the artistic self. The tail on the self-portrait is almost impossible to know the author.

In 2001, he took part in the Tirana Biennale (Albania), in 2005 - at the First Moscow Biennale and the Fair "Art Moscow" with the project "Petrograd" Marat Gelman Gallery. In 2006 he became a Fellow of Foundation for contemporary art Marat Gelman, lived and worked in Moscow. In 2007 - 2009 years. engaged in intensive grinding their copyright painterly style. Since 2010, at the invitation of Sergei Gridchina worked in an art residence "Gridchinhall" over a large solo exhibition "Absolute Art."
