Sergei Anufriev was born in 1964 in Odessa in the family of non-conformist artists of the Moscow origin, which became in the 60th South-Russian Centre of Contemporary Art, and the only focus of the informal culture in Ukraine. From the activities of this group of people was the emergence of a new wave in Odessa contemporary art, young audience that in the absence of gradually moved to Moscow, which has become a tradition for future generations of young contemporary artists in Odessa.
In this environment, genetically related to the oases "second culture" (Moscow, Leningrad, the Baltic, the Crimea, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Siberia), and there was the emergence of creativity, Sergei Anufriev implemented at the beginning of the 80's, when he went to Moscow and began to self-employment among conceptualist.
In 1986 in Moscow, Sergei Anufriev chosen chairman Avantgarde Club in 1987 - participates in the "Pop-Mechanics" and creates from Odessa Muscovite Yuri Leiderman and Paul Pepperstein group "Inspection Medical Hermeneutics", in 1988 participated in the project "Iskunsstvo" (Berlin - Moscow).
1989 - expedition to the Crimea with S. Bugaev (Africa), the beginning of the project "Donaldestruktsiya."
In 1991, Sergei Anufriev became one of the founders of the art group "Cloud Commission." The Group participates in the Venice Biennale, it is an Italian gallery "Sproveri."
In the period from 1994 to 1997, Sergei Anufriev teaches at several artkolledzhah Western Europe.
In 1996, Sergei Anufriev together with Evgeny Shelipovskim and Andrey Sobolev create in Moscow Company "Tartu" - art group which produces the secret practices in contemporary art.
In 1997, in the gallery of "point", a project MCCs (Copies of Solomon). In 1998 Anufriev creates in Odessa Company "Spit", associating the approval task of probabilistic thinking creative person.
In 2001-2002 Sergei Anufriev worked as art director in "Gallery Gelman" in Kiev, then in Moscow. In 2003, moved to St. Petersburg for the development of pilot projects with Sergei Bugaev (Africa). In 2004, together with friends, founded the artistic community "Russia", which creates new pictorial practice.
Lives and works in Odessa, Kiev and Moscow.
