Sergei Bratko: Creativity allows the artist to be more man than he really is.

Sergei Bratkov was born in Kharkov in 1960. He graduated from the local art school and Polytechnic Institute. One of the founders of the art Rapid Response Unit, together with Boris Mikhailov and Sergey Solonsky. From 1993 to 1997 in his studio Kharkov Bratkov opened the gallery "Apdaun. Since 2000 lives and works in Moscow and Kharkov. Along with Mikhailov is one of the most famous Ukrainian artists.

Sergei Bratkov - party the most prestigious international art fairs: the Venice Biennale (2005, in 2007, represented Ukraine), the Biennale in Sao Paulo (2002), Manifesta (2004). In 2008, it was a retrospective exhibition in Winterthur Fotomuseum (Switzerland).

Exhibition "Ukraine", which opened in Kiev PinchukArtCentre includes the most famous works Bratkov over the past 15 years.

Social work - video about the destitute old lady "of the Bank of soup", photographs and film Vulcanoid asteroid "- about the people who come to the mud resort. From staging photos most attention provocative series of 90-ies - "Children" and "Horror stories". The heroes of both series - the children, but they have different games. - Sergei, do you remember your first photo?

- And yet your irony is not evil. How do you manage to maintain good-natured, working with some very heavy material?

- I do not know. This, perhaps, warehouse character. My mother gave birth to this. I'm not very fond of Castaneda in his time, as my generation, but keep to some rules.
