Paul Pepperstein was born in the artist V. Pivovarova in 1966.
In 1987 he graduated from the Prague Academy of Arts and founded the group "Medical Hermeneutics".
Overall artist's work formed under the influence of Conceptual Ilya Kabakov and Victor Pivovarov.

In the futuristic project "City of Russia" an artist and writer Paul Pepperstein addresses topical theme of cultural heritage of Russia.

The artist has signed and sent to President Vladimir Putin, St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko, mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, an open letter (http://www.winzavod.ru/events/regina2411.html), in which he not only outlines the problem but also offers possible solutions.
The artist depicts the futuristic architecture built up a fantastic city, which also resurrects the memory scale of utopia on total reorganization of Russian avant-garde space, inspired by new social theories of architectural projects 20 years of XX century, and an optimistic belief in the future of the 60's.

CITY OF RUSSIA - not only the purely artistic, but also socio-political project of Paul Pepperstein, from the standpoint of modern pragmatics seems utopian. However, in the history of Russia has repeatedly happened that the most defiant utopia became a reality.
