The winner of the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art by the voting members of the main project was an artist from Benin Romuald Azumi.
Azumi (b. 1962) - one of the most famous artists of Africa. Masks and installation, expressing a critical opinion of the author on the existing political system, he creates mostly from old plastic containers and cans out of petrol. Azumi works were exhibited in the UK, France, Finland, Italy, the United States and other countries.

The motto of the award: "Life is short - art is long". It is worth noting that Azumi can not get it: first, now he is far away from Moscow, and secondly, the essence of the award is that the administration of the Moscow Biennale will pay the winner's funeral if he dies before the next Biennale.

The award was established by the Moscow conceptualist artist Yuri Albert, and this year awarded for the first time. The concept of prize is officially approved by the Moscow Biennale curator Jean-Hubert Martin.
