"I probably never would have occurred to me to illustrate the stories of Sherlock Holmes, if not the artist Alexander Shaburov, a well-known figure in the world of domestic" Contemporary Art ". Suddenly, it became clear that Shaburov - a prominent specialist in the field of "holmsovedeniya." He was going to publish something like a detailed encyclopedia devoted to the well-known detective, and invited a number of artists to participate in this project. I was asked to do ten pictures to all the stories about Holmes on my choice.
I must say that illustrate the stories of Sherlock Holmes - a pleasure. Everyone who has a child holding a yellow book of Conan Doyle's "Libraries for adventure," remembers detailed black-and-white pictures taken under the undoubted influence of the classic illustrations of Eugene Paju, and fitted with a spectacular signatures such as "Over Hugo stood vile monster ...".
A close reading of texts Conan Doyle was found out that almost every page of stories about Sherlock Holmes can nakovyryat a couple of juicy quotes: "He was a man of strong will," "The unfortunate Colonel was dead," "Then I grabbed a poker from the fireplace. The fight was fair, "" The light was hitting the open safe ... "and so on. It looks like a glib newspaper headlines. So the stories there was no shortage.
I have always loved to cut out of colored paper images with different labels. So in the case of Holmes, this technique came up as well as possible. Now, thanks to the printing studio "B & F", I had the opportunity to do the illustrations for the stories of Sherlock Holmes and even in silkscreen. " O. Florenskaya
