Portrait of the photo (next Dovlatov)

Once upon a time, reading the memoirs of Vladimir Solovyov Dovlatov, I saw a photograph the portrait. The photograph (in addition to the portrait)) imprinted itself Dovlatov, the mayor of New York (as his name was forgotten, but are all present in his office) and someone else whose name I also forgot. Perhaps someone from the newspaper "The New American," which the mayor just the same holding. But is not the point.

For a start I would like to find a school (Europe or America?) And approx. the time of its creation. Perhaps the story - because portrait of the characters seem to be united in some common action. I assume that the portrait might have got into the office of mayor from any museum during.

I love these threads that the issue always seems hopeless , and suddenly - a shot. And right on target.
Yesterday I called the TV transmission of Gordon asked to contact the artist ( maybe invite for discussion ). I advised him to write a question on the forum , they say the easiest and fastest way . Council listened with disbelief , but in vain .

Victor_art, you are a genius! Bravo! I really did not expect that someone will solve. I thought - complete hopelessness, hung, hung theme, and sink into oblivion archive. And it was so interesting to know! When I book Soloviev-Klepikova read this for a long time looked at the photo. I saw that picture obviously American, but could not quite grasp what kind of people depicted on it? It seems some "guys" from the 18th century - whether the first settlers enthusiastically discussing something in the open air, or someone from the "Team Jefferson", "edit" the Declaration of Independence ... Yes - it's very nice, I agree. I still love it when a tiny, barely discernible in the photograph the picture, suddenly appears in all its splendor and beauty.
