Over 150 years of the Tretyakov Gallery was a center of gathering and study of Russian art. Recently, it turned into a representation of the international avant-garde, nothing to do with art is not available.

The forced introduction of its exhibit self-proclaimed "modern art" has significantly changed its appearance and its essence. If the traditional concept mastered the art of his time raising and in artistic form embodying the problems of moral, social, philosophical, etc. nature, the modern avant-garde self-expression and is busy searching for scholastic forms without a goal. This is evidenced absurdist exposition of contemporary art department of the Tretyakov Gallery. Almost without exception, the exhibits of this department do not have the artistic character. Moreover, the traditional art continues to exist within at least the creative artists of the Union of Russia, which has more than 30 thousand members and is keen interest among the many visitors, though no longer called modern.

Currently in Moscow, there are three museum of contemporary avant-garde creativity. In these circumstances, the simplest solution is seen in the transmission department of modernism GTT, as phenomena do not correspond with the Russian fine art, in the above mentioned museums. This solution would be reasonable, since divided to two opposing phenomena and allow for fine arts, many of them masterpieces, back from the dark storerooms its rightful place in the exposition.

The State Tretyakov Gallery has found to its former importance as a museum of Russian art in full in its history.

It would be useful to return to the century-old practice GTG, when it was led by authoritative representatives of the art world, such, for example, as I.E Grabar, who created a multi-volume history of Russian art, that is not random people, and professionals with deep knowledge of the subject, which they have devoted all his life.
