London Tate Gallery spent 441 thousand pounds (708 thousand dollars) for the purchase of eight etchings of William Blake, wrote on January 11 the British The Daily Telegraph. Funds for purchase of prints were collected by donations from club patrons galleries, sponsors and community organizations.
The former owner of the engravings, wished to remain anonymous, bought them by accident in 1978. Writes The Times, engravings were invested in the book with the schedule of trains, that a man bought bukinisticheskoj sale. For a long time the owner was unaware of the true value of work and thought of them as duplicates.

Nevertheless, in 2007 he turned to the experts Tate Gallery to study the engravings - and then to ascertain their authenticity. Presumably engraving dated 1790-mi years, experts say, they are very well preserved, as had long been in the book and not exposed to light.

According to head of British art gallery Tate Britain British Alison Smith (Alison Smith), despite the small size (size of prints is approximately 10 centimeters) of their artistic value is so high that they can rightly be considered the best works of Blake as an artist.

In the life of William Blake's talent as a draftsman little appreciated and even now he is known primarily as a poet. The newly acquired prints Tate will present at the exhibition, which is scheduled for July 2010.
