Auction house Christie's failed to sell a self-portrait of Bacon

Auction house Christie's failed to sell at auction in New York painting by Francis Bacon, "Outlines of a self-portrait," reports AFP.
Cloth, written by Bacon in 1964, was considered one of the central lots of the auction of contemporary art, taking place in New York on December 12-13. Organizers hoped to sell the trades "Outlines of a self-portrait" of Bacon, considered to be the most expensive post-war British artist, for 40 million dollars. However, none of the buyers are not offered for the painting more than 27,4 million dollars, and the lot was withdrawn from the auction.

Total at Christie's auction on November 12 in New York were put up 75 lots, many of them failed to sell, while not specified. At a previous day Sotheby's auction of 63 lots have not found a buyer 20, including works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
