I believe that you were lucky. Do you - color etching, aquatint very famous Austrian painter Luigi Kasimir (Luigi Kasimir, 1881 - 1962). Color woodcut experienced its first heyday in France in the XVIII Century (Leblond, Bonn, Le Campione, Debyukur, Dekurti, etc.), but was almost forgotten and supplanted by color lithography. It is believed that Kazimierz in the late XIX century, revived and popularized the color etching, aquatint - the most technically challenging type of engraving (print comes with many boards - sometimes up to 10!). Casimir was the founder of the largest and perhaps the most famous in the world of the Austrian school color prints, from which came such masters as T. Simon and G. The figure. In a network many reproductions of his works, take a look, for example,
http://www.hudsonrivergallery-conser...s/Kasimir.html At your engraving depicts Pottenbrunn (Pottenbrunn) - Castle in Austria. About him, you can read at http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pottenbrunn |

Dear Kevin! I have answered your question in russian version two days ago, but (I don't know why) it isn't translated into English till now. So, I duplicate my answer for you because I think you aren't familiar in Russian.
You have a colored etching-aquatint of well-known austrian artist Luigi Kasimir (1881 - 1962). The colored multiplate etching was first time very popular in the 18th century in France (let's mention such names as Le Blond, Bonnet, Le Campion, Debucourt, Descourtis etc), but later it was almost neglected due to spreading of the color lithography. It is supposed that namely Kasimir restored in the end of 19th century the color etching to new life - the most technically difficult printmaking (where many plates are used - till to 10!). Kasimir has grounded the large and, I think, the worldwide most famous austrian art scool of color printmakers, from where came such masters as T.Simon and H.Figura. In the web you can find many reproductions of Kasimir' works, e.g. http://www.hudsonrivergallery-conser...s/Kasimir.html On your etching there is a view of Pottenbrunn castle in Austria, which is written about on http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pottenbrunn |

I apologize to the forum users for the extra posts, but some sort of nonsense goes. I replied on September 7 at Kevin a question on the Russian forum, and the English version of my answer is not moved, he was not at all! And the answer, it was important primarily for Kevin! Technology Forum has not yet been able to solve this problem, then I said to Kevin himself in English. And then arose here superior post - supposedly translated English text (by the way, where is the text? Disappeared ...), but if I delete, then removed and a message to Fight Kevin in the English version. So please do not consider it clogging the forum, but only a temporary technical difficulties. When will they be overcome, however, requested the admin to delete all the duplicate messages, as well as this.

Thanks you very much both for your response and for checking to see if the translation was delivered!
This is very interesting. Your description reminds me of the methods of Japanese woodblocks, which also must technically handle many colors. I will enjoy reading more. I see there is a website selling his items, so I should be able to investigate further. I appreciate you solving the mystery which I have had for years.
