По умолчанию Sensation? Is Mashkov's painting bought for $ 3.7 million fake?

December 1, 2005, at Sotheby's Russian sales in London set a record price for the items of Russian painting. Happy painting was sold Mashkov called "Still Life with Flowers" (Still life with flowers) and its price was 2 million 136 thousand British pounds. (Almost 3 million 700 thousand U.S. dollars). The picture described by Sotheby's experts in comparison with the works of Pyotr Konchalovsky and Gabriele Munter, whose work is closely intertwined at that time with the Russian artists. Behind the picture there are two stickers from previous exhibitions - exhibition of paintings by artists of society "Knave of Diamonds", on the label is the signature Mashkov and № 46. Another sticker shows the involvement of paintings in the exhibition in Amsterdam, in Stedelijk Museum. This exhibition was held from 7 November to 7 December 1913. In fact, the canvas has the signature Mashkov on Latin and spelled out number 9.
Painting - oil on canvas, 137,5 x 100,5 size cm, top left signature Ilya Mashkov.

In the book, "Ilya Mashkov (author-composer Igor Bolotin) from the series" Masters of our century "(spetsredaktirovanie Series DV Sarabyanova) opisany data on number of exhibitions of paintings by artists of society" Knave of Diamonds ", which took place from 1910 to 1914. in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Pictures Mashkov held at exhibitions at various registration numbers - from 10's to 200's. Also in the book and pointed to the exhibition in Amsterdam in 1913. It was exhibited several paintings Mashkov. At the same exhibition, some of them have been sold and remained in private collections in Europe. Also, there is an inventory of paintings "Flowers in pots", made on the photo.

All nice, all right, the picture broke the record and took pride of place in a private collection of the new owner. This was written and spoken by many sources, media, etc.

It has been almost 5 years and Th at the height of the scandal around pictures of "Odalisque" (Kustodiyev-neKustodiev) has this temperamental conversation, which affects this work Mashkov.

User Forum ArtInvestment. En under the name Igor Guriev made a sensational statement:
painting Mashkov, bought for a record price in 2005 does not belong to the hand Mashkov. His statement is based on his personal opinion, which in turn, baziruetsya on the people whom he respects very .

Here are excerpts from messages Igor Gurieva, which were expressed in the address of this picture.

"I do not know who bought that" Mashkova, but I know that this is not Mashkov.
And not only me but also the various friends who have a second opinion, many times checked for other jobs, etc. "

"You know, Mashkov Counteropenwork never in a manner not write.
That is, for a start.
Painting, I repeat, is created somewhere in the first quarter of the 20 th century, probably in Belgium, some local enough skilled artist.

"Boring composition (as stirred up the soldiers on the parade ground), a poisonous yellow (where are you saw a Mashkova? Mashkov always warm, but not poisonous) awry left pot (Ilya Ivanovich actually knew how to paint), etc."

"This is absolutely" botanical "Still Life, of which Mashkov nobody ever wrote.
Mashkov, if anything, have created a model of the cosmos in his still lifes, but not the botanical studies. "

"... Waning, almost disciplic, screaming picture of a Belgian with a completed kontrazhurom void ..."

"And the thing - one hundred percent oversubscribed."

"I will express their views and referred to the opinions of people whom I respect enormously."

"It's not me, but they told me their opinions about this movie. And I agreed."

Yes think it Mashkov

But this is not Mashkov "

"By the way, Mashkov wrote a lot of pots and flowers in them."

"The widow Mashkova could be a lot of useful nakleechek."

-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------
If you carefully read the words Igor Gurieva, then the different messages you may notice some contradictions:

- know, it is not Mashkov -
- It's not me, but they told me my opinion of this picture

- The painting, I repeat, is created somewhere in the first quarter of the 20 th century, probably in Belgium, some local sufficiently skilled artist .

- waning, almost disciplic, screaming a picture of a Belgian with a completed kontrazhurom emptiness ...

- but not botanicalstudies
- wrote Mashkov a lot of pots and flowers in them

If we listen to the statement of Igor Gurieva, and these statements are driven by arguments that there might be a new scandal involving large numbers and big names. Since this conversation has arisen in the topic of "Odalisque", has decided it appropriate to bring this conversation into the newly created topic.

Replying to Igor Gurieva,
- awry left pot (Ilya Ivanovich actually knew how to paint) quote photo pictures period 1909-10 period. Is not pot skosobochen? A vase?

Dear Igor Guriev, bring this issue to its logical end. In any case, very much interested to know the whole truth. I think the same opinion and forum users.

P.S.
The huge request to forum members. If anyone has access to the Knave of Diamonds exhibition society 1910-1914 years, find a job description Mashkova at number 46.

1 photo - picture discussed
2 - stickers on the back of the painting
3 and 4 - "Do not awry" pot and vase Mashkov

Here's some information I received after a query in Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam:

"We have a catalog of the exhibition. Artworks Mashkov (Machkoff, as written in the catalog) are numbered 131 to 142, on page 39. There is just one black-and-white illustration № 137," Naked. "Only one painting" Flowers " ("Fleurs") (Directory in French) under number 139. Dimensions and machinery not specified. Just - "Flowers". "

Added after 2 minutes
serg_str, thank you for your prompt response. A list of works is there (illustrations, dimensions, etc.)?

And it would give for the attribution of paintings?
It can establish the truth. In any case, the combined forces, we are its own investigation. What if someone finds a historic photo of this painting in one of the exhibitions? First you have to deal with the historical facts of events. If they are not in favor of this picture, then we need to consider other kinds of expertise.

b at the end of the word
"b" ("ep") at the end of words husband. kind after consonants in the names. case.
It does have the letters "i" ("and decimal") and "ѣ" ("yat ").
But the "v" there must be (but the rules) several times.
I do not know, I do not see, but perhaps there instead of "v" stands "erok"-superior of actions taken over a consonant or after return lowered "EPA" ("b )?
The poster exhibition so it is written:

I found online image of the original stickers society.
So far without any results.

Here I found:

1 - brochure or poster Society (2-dispute). Here, Valet and Valet, Hudozhnikov and artist painted differently. (I do not know, right and left sides brochure dated the same time, or a modern pamphlet using a material of the old left).

2 - card company, founded by Alexander Kuprin (similar to the solar system), where instead of planets - the names of the most active participants of society.

If we compare these two emblems on the photo with the logo in the picture Mashkov, they are identical.

Here's what he thought to account number 46. This may not necessarily be the number paintings from the exhibition. On the label says: The product №. 46. Maybe it's some sort of registration number, not on the show?

Above № 46 written:

"Please paste this form on the back of the picture."

Maybe someone has a photo of the original stickers Society "Knave of Diamonds"? How she must have looked like in reality?
For understandable reasons, to find images of these tags and labels is rather difficult ...
But I have found the description labels, very similar to yours, only in modern spelling: Unknown Russian avant-garde in museums and private collections in Moscow, 1992, p. 153: Aristarchus Lentulov. Woman with watermelon. 1910. Oil on canvas. 69 x 61. On the back of a paper label "Vsekohudozhnik" with the inscription: Auto. Lentulov 822 titles. "Woman with a pumpkin" Year App. of 1910. Oil on canvas and a paper label with a circular emblem of society and the inscription: Artists' Society "Knave of Diamonds". Asking paste this form on the back of the picture. Product № 10. Title proizvdeniya (?) Woman with watermelon. Size in frame: length width price from Z 5 to 5 (?)
Purchased in 1988 by MA Lentulov, daughter of the artist. Moscow. Regional Museum of Art. Simbirsk. F-1612.
The work - an undeniable, therefore, label - the real one. And the number of works in the label does not correspond to the same number in the catalog of the exhibition of paintings Artists' Society "Knave of Diamonds", St. Petersburg 1913: Aristarchus Lentulov. 1910. 148 women with watermelon.
But that's the spelling of your label is really confusing ...
Perhaps the Simbirsk museum employs sympathetic people, and they will give you an image of the traffic?
