Peter Noever not only the genius of museum exhibitions, he is a genius of their advertising. But long ago he could not such a benefit, as with the current Korean exhibition, which opened at exactly the moment when the border again smell of gunpowder. I am in no way is not to say that it was he with the advertising objectives of a South Korean patrol boat sank, but the exhibition "Flowers for Kim Il Sung" was even hotter than expected.
IAC - a free, relaxed, democratic museum, cheering each visitor. But now! Never seen the exhibition was not furnished large formalities. No cameras, pass through a magnetic frame things in a basket. What should I bring with them to blow up a majestic serenity of the North Korean culture? Axe, a pistol, a statuette of Jeff Koons?

But he is clearly thinking about the good, perhaps, writes poetry, and maybe music, performed by accordion at work at noon on scaffolding painting the heroine of "Break" (Kim Yong Choi, 1988). Here's the master, setting aside automatic, making the violin in front of him tools, hammer, chisels, planes, and on that freshly cut his violin, he displays a "proverb" (Kwon Hiok, 2008). That soldier directing traffic across the street procession of schoolchildren row two. Is headed by a boy with a toy gun and a girl with a doll: everyone is ready to fulfill its duty to the country. And the children give way to "At the Crossroads" (Kim Sang Hui, 1970), a black 21-I "Volga" with a deer.
I spent half a day on this show and not only because he had written in a notebook the names of dozens of unknown artists. I had a strange feeling that I returned to my childhood. And he returned not in a good sense of how each would be happy, but in fact that neither is unpleasant. I do not know what "Flowers for Kim Il Sung," reminiscent of the Austrians. Perhaps those days on which the city was a monument to Soviet soldiers. But we, Soviet, it's too familiar. I've seen it all on the endless reporting exhibitions in the Manege.
In Soviet times, those in kiosks selling the magazine "Korea". He enjoyed great success because it was wildly funny: on its pages, firm principles of social realism seemed so absurd and surreal, that seemed to parody. No social art could not compete with this, Komar and Melamid would die of envy. Well, it turns out, the magazine does not lie. Propaganda has been truthful. In Korea, all of it is, as has been and will be, there is no difference whether the picture painted yesterday or forty years ago.
Peter Noever calls to talk about art, not about politics. But this strange art, as if thrown into eternity. Does he have any development, any options? If you look closely, it turns out, that is. Perhaps within these ant moves appear to present an aesthetic revolution. Here's a great leader for children, among them his son, Kim Jong Il, the current owner of Korea ("We - the happiest children in the world," Kim Sung-Min, 1995). And here he was already grown up and managed by the builders ("Leader Kim Jong Il among the heroic builders of Songhai, Jon Hui Jun, 2004). He leads them along a towering in the background of the dam. All so happy and emotional that it seems they have just a few drinks in prorabskoy, but now came a breath of building air. If the first thing is traditionally beautiful, the second is moving to hyper-realism. For ten years has increased mastery of artists as if they have mastered a specific scenic photoshop.
Give it back, of course, a tribute to tradition. Landscapes, Korean nature, mountains and forests, folk dances, which are less tied to the anger of the day. And in the same traditional style with a great graphic skill displayed pioneer, who teaches a peasant on his plow. At his side hangs a pioneer of some useful beetle, apparently in order to spell better entrance to the head ("Reading - the basis of revolutionary education," Zhong Yong Ahn, 2008).
On the classical eastern graph resembles completely devoid of political promise fair bulls ("At the old market", Hong-yong Yu, 1992). Unless, of course, do not understand it in the literal sense that the rural areas North Korea is extremely rich in bulls. But alongside all the same artist, all in the same traditional manner depicted a winter transition Peoples' Liberation Army ("Population Kosonga helps soldiers at the front", 1961). A bit like trying to Palekh icon-painters-connect after the revolution to a new topic.
Portraits of leaders of different entourage - otherwise they are almost the same: close to the people, not metaphorically, but literally. People are drawn to the leader and try to grasp them. If any respectable man possessed hand, Kim Il Sung, it is clear that he had no means do not let go. The leader, usually do not burst and decorously talking to people. At one of the paintings he was surrounded by children, it is called "The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung among children" (Kim Rin Gwon, 1963), and the next he was surrounded by artists. And the things that made last year, they sometimes can not tell from the things that made 50 years ago with us. This kind of did not even ideological, and medical relationship.
