Because for the first time - only on canvas and in-kind all-videno perevideno: and "Stormy Day" with its ominous windy sky (quite vangogovsky vortical free stroke), and "The Ravine", which descends to the river of grass up to his waist, and slightly veiled in mist "Rick" on the risen moon, and spattered with tiny white flowers, meadow in the woods, and exuberant lilies and other aquatic vegetation, overgrown ponds.

All of the state of Russian nature in all seasons submitted Isaac Levitan with some nadchelovecheskoy astonishing artistic authenticity. In general, for its short by today's standards forty years of his life he managed to create a surprising number. After his death, the studio left more than three hundred sketches. And his commitment to the sad autumn theme to explain the early and, alas, incurable disease - the defeat of the aorta. Is it too frontal explanation? It seems that the artistic and the literary heritage of Levitan (especially - letters and documents) are still waiting for their painstaking researcher.

It is such an opportunity as unhurried acquaintance with the famous, and with shelter in the vaults of the works of genius Russian landscape just provides the Russian Museum and the recently opened solo exhibition Levitan. It should be noted and released the album to show a detailed catalog. Russian Museum in recent years made it a rule to accompany all major exhibitions such publications, which is very easy work of researchers and, of course, pleases the audience.

Personal exhibition of works by Levitan in the Russian Museum, on the one hand, continues a series of expositions of the leading masters of the domestic landscape (Savrasov, Kuindzhi, Shishkin), on the other hand, opens a series of commemorative exhibitions. Incidentally, the previous "personalka" Levitan was in the distant 1961. At this time the works of the great masters of the three rooms are filled with the Benois Wing. The exhibition is built in a chronological order, as well as thematically. Presented by about 100 paintings, many of which are courtesy of the State Tretyakov Gallery (it was there - the main collection of landscapes Levitan masterpieces, including the above), plus a few works from the museum-apartment Brodsky, including a portrait of SP Kuvshynnykova known as the prototype of "Grasshopper" from a story by Chekhov.
