porcelain vases Nicholas I sold for 1.9 million pounds
Pair china vases during the reign of Nicholas I, sold at Sotheby's for 1.945 million pounds. Prior to the auction held the evening of July 6 in London, planned to sell the vase for 1,4-1,8 million pounds, but the final price of the lot was higher than the upper bound estimate. Vase, height of 1 meter 49 centimeters, were created by masters of the Imperial Porcelain Factory in 1842. They are decorated with copies of paintings by Jan van Loo, members of the Hermitage collection. Presumably, the vase was donated by Nicholas I's daughter Grand Duchess Olga. At the public auction vases were exhibited for the first time. Porcelain vases were one of the top of auction Treasures: The Legacy of the aristocracy, in which trades were exposed to items of decorative art XVI-XIX centuries, belonging to the aristocratic families of Europe. The most expensive lot auction was a silver bowl for wine in 1711, belonged to Thomas Ventuortu - British envoy in Berlin. Bowl, whose weight exceeds 80 kilograms, went under the hammer for 2,505,000 pounds sterling in the preliminary assessment of 1,5-2,5 million. In the three most expensive lots sold at auction Treasures: The Legacy of the aristocracy, also includes two pairs Regency style chest of drawers, made Neapolitan masters in the second half of the XVIII-th century. Chests were sold for 1.6 million pounds in the Estima in 1,4-1,8 million. In total, the auction Treasures: The Legacy of the aristocracy "was exhibited in 1921 lot.
