The exhibition of one of the most distinguished artists of St. Petersburg Anatoly Belkin "Side by Side" is a logical extension of the Hermitage "Golden Marsh" (2004-2005 years.) And parodic diary entomologist Expedition № 6. "Side by Side" - a project of the coexistence of man with the worlds of plants and insects, interaction with them during life and dissolves in them after death.

The artist continues to invent mono on the vicissitudes of Entomology, though the protagonist is idle - stops in the center of the exhibition hall at a point beam. It (sex in this life stage is not important, because it's mummy) does not fit some bedraggled undertaker, and Lilia Kiselenko; his company are not commonplace earthworms, while the exotic Cucarachas - Madagascar cockroaches, and even the soundtrack, simulating a hot summer afternoon with conventional suburban tea, clinking spoons and talk about anything written by the guru of electronic music by Alexei Rakhiv (ex-Dead ears). All that perfectionism on the one hand the materialization of personal needs Belkin to an ideal device, if not the world as a whole, then at least parts of it, but on the other - the implementation of the "deeply hidden needs of modern art - the idea of ordering".

This is almost an ideal world embedded pictures, collages and graphics, something exhibited before, something done specifically for the exhibition, but all together creates a sense of balance, justice, even such a vital turmoil as death.

Anatoly Pavlovich Belkin was born in 1953 in Moscow, but studied, lived and worked in Leningrad, St. Petersburg. He studied at the Central School of Arts at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Ilya Repin (1963-1970) and the Institute. Ilya Repin (1970-1972). As one of the youngest representatives of the nonconformist movement, participated in most of the exhibitions "unofficial" artists: "backyard" (1971 - 1972), the psychology department of Leningrad State University (1973), in DK. Strip and "Nevsky" (1974 - 1975). In the Palace of Culture. Dzerzhinsky had his first solo exhibition (1977).
Already in 1976, his works are included in foreign exposure "resistant" Art in New York, St. Louis, Bashingtone, San Francisco, Bochum, Paris, New Jersey, Montgeron and other cities.
