April 24, 2010 at 15 hours Leonid Shishkin Gallery will hold a 89-second auction "Russian Art" by presenting the attention of collectors, more than 100 works of Russian and Soviet artists XIX - XX centuries.

The undisputed top lot coming auction - Arrangement Peter Efimovich Sokolova Singer 1920 (estimate 2-2,5 million rubles). AP Sokolov, one of the unjustly neglected masters of Russian avant-garde, a student of Kazimir Malevich and the teacher is well-known Soviet nonconformist Vladimir Nemukhin. Thus, his art became a bridge between the two waves of abstraction in Russia - the beginning of the century and the postwar period. Offered for sale the work is done after the Revolution of 1917 and is an excellent example of innovative exploration of the first decades of Soviet rule. The theme and style of this work resemble Cubist compositions Hope Udaltsova 1910-ies, in particular its famous "seamstress" (1912-1913) from the Tretyakov Gallery.

Next in importance - a group of works of famous artists of the late XIX - early XX century, whose names are not only firmly established in the history of Russian art, but also occupy a leading position in the ratings of auction sales in leading Western auctions. Among them - Konstantin Gorbatov, whose landscape "Summer Day" is estimated to be 1,3-1,8 million. Student N. Dubovsky and A. Kiselev, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Gorbatov more than 20 years he lived abroad - first in Italy, then Germany, where he died in Berlin in May 1945. Despite the fact that most of the artistic heritage of the artist after his death was transferred to the Soviet Union, his work for many years had been virtually unknown in the country and only recently rediscovered it thanks to the wide occurrence Gorbatova works on the art market. Landscape "Summer Day" in 1915 written in the period when the artist returned from the pensioner's trip to Europe, lived in Russia. Apparently, the work belongs to the cycle of paintings, which depicted Gorbatov home for his bank of the Volga.

Also on auction will be sold to work a few more artists, whose work divided into two distinct phases - before and after emigration. One of the founders of the famous association beginning of the twentieth century "World of Art" Alexander Benois presented watercolor "Fountain" Neptune "from the famous series of fountains of Peterhof and the Great Palace (estimate 1,3-1,5 million rubles). Created in 1918-1922, the work continues the cycle of Versailles artist Benoit portrays the "Russian Versailles" - Peterhof, Pavlovsk Oranienbaum and glorifying the beauty and grandeur of architecture of the XVIII century and its harmony with the surrounding Russian nature.

At the April auction will be exhibited later work colleague A. Benoit for "World of Art" Konstantin Korovin "Winter Landscape" (estimate 800-900 thousand rubles), written in exile. In 1920, in Paris, the artist continues to write nostalgic landscapes of the homeland - the Russian winter, triplets, the peasants' huts. Student Konstantin Korovin, another representative of the Russian émigré Alex Isupov, by contrast, presented his early work - "Portrait of a Woman" 1910-s created, probably as early as the period of study at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, or in the first years after end.

For fans of the Russian realist school of painting Leonid Shishkin Gallery has produced several works great landscape painters of the late XIX - early XX century. First of all, it is unusual for the artist's "Cityscape" outstanding Russian painter and watercolorist Lev Lagorio (estimate 1,3-1,5 million rubles). In 1908 he entered the MUZHVZ, studied Abram Arkhipov, Apollinaria Vasnetsov, Konstantin Korovin, Valentin Serov.
From 1914 to 1917 he performed his military service in Turkestan. With the establishment of Soviet power in Central Asia, he taught at the Tashkent Art School, wrote to the local landscapes and household composition. In 1921 he returned to Moscow.
From 1925 he lived in Italy, he painted in the Italian motifs, as well as Russian landscapes. Participated in the Soviet exhibitions. After the death of Isupova according to his will's widow donated the Soviet Union more than 300 paintings by the artist.
His works are housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. In Russia - the State Tretyakov Gallery and in the Regional Museum of Art in Vyatka
