By the 150-th anniversary (1859-2009) in Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum exhibited two fine portraits by Sergei Malyutina.
It is impossible not to admire such works!
Portrait of Malikov, and a portrait H Malikova - father and daughter.
The works were written by the artist in the 30 years of the 20 th century.

1859, Moscow - 1937, ibid.

At the end of 1870. Voronezh opened a traveling exhibition, which was among the visitors of a young man from a merchant family, recently graduated from the accounting courses and served as a clerk. Here he first met with a genuine painting, and the deep impressions of what he saw gave a very specific meaning of his vague dreams: he decided to become an artist. This young man was SV Malyutin. In 1883 he enrolled in MUZHVZ. 1880-e gg. were the heyday of Russian art related, as in the previous decade, with the activities TPHV.

Malyutina classmates in the college were Isaac Levitan, SA, and KA Korovin, AP Ryabushkin, MV Nesterov, AE Arkhipov, and among his teachers - famous painters VE Makovsky and IM Pryanishnikov. His training as he was required first and foremost a talented draftsman Sorokin. In 1886 Malyutin graduated from college and became a freelance artist. His work in the early period (late 1880's - 1890-e gg.) Was very diverse. Giving preference to the lyrical genre scenes unfolded without a plot ( "Girlfriends," 1889; "Away from his neighbor, 1892, etc.), he wrote, and landscapes, revealing a relationship with polenovskoy school, and historical pictures (" Invasion of the Tartars ", 1890 e). In mid-1890. at the invitation of Mamontov it creates a backdrop for his opera of Nizhny Novgorod, and then worked for the Moscow Private Opera. But the biggest achievement Malyutina in this period, especially at the end of 1890. Relate to the book illustrations ( "The Tale of Tsar Saltape", "Ruslan and Ludmila" and other works by Pushkin). Despite some uneven and sometimes inconsistent searching, an artist's work in this area was an important step forward in comparison with the illustration of the second half of XIX century.

In 1900 he settled in Malyutin Talashkino - the estate of Princess Tenisheva, which was then the center of Renaissance arts and crafts. Activities Tenisheva of collecting works of folk art and learning carvers, weavers, embroiderers and other artists in a specially arranged workshops became widespread. Sketches art products comply with VM Vasnetsov, Korovin, MAVrubel, Nicholas Roerich, but the flowering Talashkino fishing is primarily connected with the name Malyutina, under whose constant guidance of artisanal work was carried out. In his carpentry projects and carving workshops meet external and internal decoration talashkipskih buildings, of which survived to the present day house-library ( "Teremok"). Not trying to make sure we follow the models of traditional folk art and not caring particularly about the utilitarian side, Malyutin comprehend the national heritage primarily on the figurative level, and became one of the founders of the first kind of Russian version of Art Nouveau. In 1900 the magazine "World of Art" introduced audiences to the creativity of the artist, is becoming increasingly popular.

Upon returning to Moscow in 1903 Malyutin takes CPX, beginning to teach in MUZHVZ. The most significant of his work at the time - design, together with the architect N. Zhukov, facades and interiors of apartment house PN Pertsova (1905-07). Building this was an interesting phenomenon in the architecture of the century. The best known Malyutin received as a portraitist. In 1909 he headed the school of portrait-genre class, which previously led the VA Serov. Soon the idea came from the artist to continue creating a portrait gallery of the best people of the Russian "initiated by Pavel Tretyakov. Opened this gallery of portraits VV Perepletchikova (1912), followed by portraits of Mikhail Nesterov, V. Bryusov (both 1913), A. Vasnetsov, KF Juon (both 1914), In . Gilyarovskii, NP Bogdanov-Belsky (both 1915), Sytin etc.

In 1914, SV Capitals were awarded the title of academician:: and the following year he became a member of TPHV. In Soviet times, the painter continued to paint portraits in line with the realist tradition. In 1922, at his apartment the young artists-realists have solution for a new association, then the name of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR). The most famous work Malyutina Soviet era - a portrait Furmanova DA (1922). It organically merged with two main themes of the portrait artist's work: a man of a new era of the Revolution, and a man of art. Hero of the portrait - a writer, the Commissioner of the legendary Chapayev Division - simple m natural; his lively, slightly mocking glance turned to the audience. Very well composition solution paintings: the dynamics of diagonal lines converging in the semantic center - the person depicted, increases mobility, while living monumental image. In the restrained scale canvases, solved in grayish, greenish, and ocher colors, sounds intense crimson stain Open - Order of battle on the left side of the chest Commissioner. This color accent is an important trait to the image Furmanova, which at that time, despite the injury, courageously worked on completing his novel. The theme of the Civil War heroics Malyutin turned in another portrait - "Guerrilla" (1936), written shortly before his death.
