Kiev city council has reduced the area of the park Hreschaty on 2,1 ha to 14,4 ha due to construction of the Center for Contemporary Art at the Vladimir descent, 2, in Pechersk district of the capital.

City council authorized the General Directorate of Culture and Arts of Kyiv City State Administration to develop a draft land acquisition for permanent use of the zemuchastka.
In addition, the same decision, the city council approved the report on the environmental audit area, the results of its sanitation and geotechnical studies.
According to the explanatory memorandum, an environmental audit of the site found that it is dominated by trees at the age of 40-60 years, among which there are no trees that have conservation value.
The state stands adversely affected by delayed treatment, lack of self-seeding and landscape reconstruction.
Also, an audit revealed that in the region exceeded the permissible standards for noise, being developed by car, and the level of soil contamination by heavy metals, pesticides.
In this regard, according to the Land Commission city council, land does not meet the characteristics and status of the most valuable land, so the construction of the center at the site commission considers acceptable.
Recall that in October last year, city council instructed the Directorate General of Culture and Arts of Kyiv City State Administration to hold a competition to attract investors for the design and construction of the Center for Contemporary Art at the Vladimir descent, 2 in the Shevchenko district of the capital.
The concept envisages the construction of accommodation in the center of the specialized rooms and galleries for the display of art objects, art galleries, theaters and concert halls, halls of organ or chamber music, facilities for the archives.
According to the Kyiv City Council Secretary Oles Dovga initiated appeals to city council with a proposal to implement such a project was made by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
