Another founder of the dynasty of August Thyssen's grandfather, Baron Hans Heinrich, who comes from a simple and poor family from the Rhineland area, the creator of a steel empire in the late 19th century, commissioned sculpture by Auguste Rodin, and early in the 20th - buy paintings by Durer and Rembrandt. However, Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza got a number of historical reasons only a few dozen pictures of those that raised my grandfather and father. They became the foundation of its going for more than 50 years, the collection currently includes 1,600 paintings. In general, Hans Heinrich remained true momentum predecessors: he collected the first of the old masters, expanding and enriching, but his collection of Impressionist and classic modern paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Kandinsky. For more contemporary art Bornemisza treated with friendly skepticism, coyly referring to his "restricted". "I prefer to collect some art that I understand, and which dealt with" - he said.

The significance of the collection there are different opinions. One of them, that the collection consists of mediocre works of great masters and masterpieces of the lesser artists. Other - around the world, only one of the only portraits of Rembrandt is privately owned, and only one painting by Durer - and both in the collection Thyssen-Bornemisza.

In my humble opinion, and these works would have been the pride of any private collection.

The fate of his collection, like a true collector, the Thyssen-Bornemisza has taken care in advance: in the 92nd year, he sold it to the Spanish state for $ 330 million, while it amounted to about a third of the real cost of the meeting. Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is located in the heart of Madrid directly opposite the renowned Prado Museum.

In the Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza to the Sept. 20 exhibition runs later works by Matisse 1917-1947gg. Left because of the revolution without the support of the main patron of the arts, Matisse created a not so big and bright fabrics. The exhibition seems to pale copy of what we are accustomed to seeing. But it certainly did not detract from the dignity of the individual works. The exhibition consists of works from 50 museums and private collections. The first part - the view from the window, the second odalisques, and sculpture.
I liked his drawings, but unfortunately no pictures.
