По умолчанию Sotheby's experts did not recognize a picture of Gainsborough

British collector and expert found in the catalog of the auction house Sotheby's valuable painting by Thomas Gainsborough and bought it for 50 thousand pounds, wrote a Sunday newspaper The Times.
Mold Philip (Philip Mould), who owns his own gallery in central London, saw a resemblance between the figures in the painting on display at the auction for 15 thousand pounds as a product of "the English School 18 th century, Gainsborough and the famous self-portrait with his wife, who is in the Louvre. The expert then determined that the mansion Kraystchech in Ipswich, shown in the picture belonged to the family Fonnero (Fonnereau). They discerned in Gainsborough the artist and lent him money for education, for a painter painted their house on the canvas, established the Mold.
When it became clear that the picture first put to tender the son of a man who was friends with the spouses Gainsborough and became the hero of one of the artist's paintings, no doubt at Mold left. In December 2008 he took part in the auction by phone and was able to buy the work for only 50 thousand pounds (67,250 pounds with a buyer's premium).
Specialists in Gainsborough painting confirmed the attribution of paintings bought and appreciated its approximately 750 thousand pounds. It assumes The Times, now put a picture on the auction seller may require a Sotheby's compensation for the unappreciated lot.
Note that in the description of paintings at Sotheby's are reported as the similarity of figures with self-portrait Gainsborough, and the mansion Kraystchech, but to attribute its well-known artist, experts of the auction house did not.
