French sculptor Joël MARTEL, 1896-1966 - one, or with the twin brother of Jean (Jan Martel).

Both were among the founding members of the French Union of modern artists and their original works include decorative sculptures, statues, monuments and fountains in the style of the periods of art Deco and cubism. Joint works are signed with a single name Martel. The brothers participated in a number of Parisian exhibitions, including the Salon des indépendants, salon d'automne, the Salon des Tuileries and the exposition of decorative arts in 1925. In 1932, they created a monument to Claude Debussy, mounted on the Boulevard Lannes in Paris.



Sculpture L accordéoniste (Accordionist) sold to the French Piasa auction in 2010 for 19,000 euros (estimate: 1200 - 1500).
Panel "Orchestra" sold at Christie's in 2011 for 121.000 euros.
