Picture of Lucas van Leyden, Netherlands artist of the first half of the XVI century, bought the New York Metropolitan Museum. The figure depicts the archangel Gabriel in the typical manner of Lucas van Leyden, in particular, he has a very individual appearance, and draperies and other small parts are made very carefully. On the back page bears the signature "L van Leyden". Art critics believe that the "Archangel Gabriel" - a work held by the Berlin "Virgin". Picture of Lucas van Leyden was found under unusual circumstances. He discovered some little-known collector in the album of the British artist William Frederick Uizeringtona. The album has sold at auction in London, and in the catalog picture was labeled "the work done by another hand." The new owner soon gave way to "Archangel" to another collector, who saw the signature on the back and sent the picture on the expertise in Amsterdam Riyksmyuseum. They confirmed that the "Archangel Gabriel" - genuine.
