One of my favorite Ukrainian painters. He is known as the battle scenes and the author of works on historical and patriotic theme, but I especially like the series of his works, completing the 60-70-ies and dedicated to the Russian church architecture and the Russian North. Harsh things beautiful, but without a drop of decoration. Very "masculine" painting, if I may say so.

Brief biography:
Born on 15.11.1926, at pp. Excavation Farms Saratov region. In nachachale 30-ies and his family moved to Leningrad. From 1939 he studied at the Leningrad Art School at the Arts of the USSR. 16-year-olds went to the front, was the "son of regiment" 1 of the First Ukrainian Front. At the end of World War II attended drawing lessons at the Kiev Art School. Shevchenko, in 1947-1953 he studied at the HIC in K. Trokhimenko, D . Titova, K. ARGET, MA Spitsyn. In 1957, for the painting "In the valleys and on the hills, which exhibited at the All-Union exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery, received the silver medal of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR. In 1960 - 1970 he worked on paintings, devoted to historical attractions and the Russian North (Rostov, Novgorod, Suzdal and others), carried out a large number of lyrical sketches. Participated in many art exhibitions. Member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1957, has repeatedly been elected secretary of the Board of Union of Artists of USSR and the Secretary of the Board of Union of Artists of the USSR. Honored Artist of USSR from 1964 , People's Artist of USSR in 1967. From 1973 he taught at HIC, since 1976 - professor. Corresponding Member of USSR Academy of Arts since 1978, State Prize Laureate of USSR. Shevchenko in 1984. Decorated with Orders of Honor, "" Red Labor Banner, "World War II degrees and medals. He lived and worked mainly in Kiev.
