По умолчанию Rufino Tamayo (Rufino Tamayo)

From this very kind of creative, bright and complex artist I met in my childhood - in an age when barely touching the paintings on the wall, but stunned and physically feel the pressure of his paintings - I still remember.
Particularly fascinated me a picture: a woman in a yellow to fiery orange background, his eyes like sunny and rear - a crisp, bright pink watermelon. The picture though, would be shining ....
On the internet judge his painting is virtually impossible. Pictures of many artists look better on screen but works Rufino Tamayo - pales badly but I did attach some pictures and biography.

Three great artists Rivera, Siqueiros and Orozco brought the Mexican art world fame. Rivera and Siqueiros are widely known in Russia, mainly because of their leftist views. Apolitical Orozco is known far less. The name of the artist from the fourth cohort of the Titans Rufino Tamayo is almost unknown to the Russian public. Meanwhile, many critics in the West consider primarily Mexican artist Tamayo. He laundered painting from sediment history, directions, philosophical - from anything that is not herself. And a miracle happened: through the mysterious semi-abstract figures, unusual eye color scales stood out strange reality.

Rufino Tamayoni was born in Oaxaca, August 26, 1899 in the family Zapotec Indians, though apparently he did not like the pure-blooded Indian. His mother, Florencia Tamayo died in 1907, and his education took up Aunt Amalia, who had a fruit shop in the market. Future artist willingly helped her trade. Hence, perhaps, his passion for still life with fruit.

In 1910, Rufino, together with my aunt moved to Mexico City. In 1917 he entered the National School of Fine Arts, but continued to sell fruit. After school, he had worked there as a teacher, and in 1928 became a professor. Some time he headed the department of ethnographic drawing of the National Archaeological Museum in Mexico City (1921-1926). Many times he went to the United States, mostly in New York (from 1926), as well as in Western Europe (1949). In Europe, he met with the best examples of avant-garde art, especially Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso. In his early work is dominated by portraits, nudes, landscapes and still lifes.

The first exhibition Tamayo passed in 1926, Mexico City and in New York. In America, it took much better than at home. In 1936 he married the pianist Olga Flores Rivas and settled in the United States. At first they had to live on 100 dollars a month. But in 1938 he was given a scholarship to the school Dalton. Next 18 years the couple lived in New York.

In 1930 Tamayo was complicated by the pictures, including more and more Indian mythological "ciphers", symbols of Art, Life and Death, the solution is in the darkly-earthy, the brightest, "space" shimmering tones; mysteriously mythologised even fairly simple, portrait and still life motifs. Among the samples of his original neosimvolizma - "Animals" (1941), "Sleeping Musicians" (1950), "The Adoration of the Indian race" (1952).

In 60-ies already Tamayo paintings resemble rock paintings of prehistoric man, or an image from another planet, what they were fiction.

Tamayo, like other great Mexican painted walls. Among his most famous frescoes and panel "Music and singing" (National Conservatory, 1933), "Revolution" (National Museum of Anthropology, 1939, both work - Mexico City), "Nature, art and people" (Library of Smith College in Nordhemptone , USA, 1943), "The birth of our nation" and "Mexico today" (Palace of Fine Arts, Mexico City, 1952-1953), "Prometheus, which brings the fire" (UNESCO building in Paris, 1957-1958). Not once turned to engraving, book illustration and stage design.

Aesthetics Tamayo demanded withdrawal from the tradition of political and intellectual engagement, return to the craft as a way of expressing the inner world of the artist. Through individual - to the universal. In 1965, Tamayo refused to award him the prize "of the Humanism in painting. According stubborn artist, one had no relationship to another.
Died Tamayo in Mexico City June 24, 1991. Among Mexicans, he achieved the greatest success in the global art market. The question from a journalist that he could say of himself as artist, looking from the outside, the Latin American avant-garde classic joke: "If Tamayo earned per year over a million pesos, is that means something." One of his fellow artists, not without envy, recalls: "One evening, when I was a guest ... there was the same couple Tamayo. Olga, wife of maestro went in, and happily declared from the doorway: "Today, Tamayo finished now worth six thousand dollars." Recently, Rufino Tamayo painting "Watermelon" was sold for 1 million 200 thousand dollars.
