Romanov dynasty porcelain vases sold at Sotheby's
At auctions Russian decorative and applied arts, which will house Sotheby's in London on June 10, 2009, will be exhibited couple of vases from the collection of Grand Prince Vladimir Romanov Kirillovich. Kirillovich Vladimir Romanov (1917 - 1992) was brought cousin of the nephew of Nicholas II. Since 1938, he was considered the head of Russia's imperial household. He was buried in St. Petersburg, in the grand-ducal tomb of Peter and Paul Cathedral.
In 2006, the pair vases, donated in 1830 by Nicholas I, Ambassador of France in Russia, were sold at Sotheby's for 2.2 million pounds (4.3 million). Day later the auctioneers Christie's sold another set of vases of the Imperial Porcelain Factory for 2.5 million pounds (4.8 million).
In the first half of 2009, the house Sotheby's will hold a special Russian trading in New York on April 22 in London - from 8 to 10 June. House Christie's Russian auctions suit in New York on 24 April and in London - 9 and 11 June.
