Zaven Arshakuni - one of the most famous and recognizable artists of St. Petersburg. His paintings are bright and sunny , but if it has a special way of Leningrad and noble charm.
Born in 1932 in Leningrad. Survived the siege , having lost their parents.
In 1946-1953 he studied at the Central School of Art at the Russian Academy of Arts. Upon completion in 1954 he entered the Leningrad Institute of Painting , Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin , who graduated in 1961 at the workshop of the Silver with the qualification of the artist painting. His thesis "Spring" Arshakuni protects the second attempt. In 1962, he joined the Union of Artists.
In November 1972 , an exhibition in which for the first time united the "Group Eleven ." And there is Zaven Arshakuni . All eleven members of the group under the famous art critic Leo Mochalova consist of the Union of Artists , and in fact , this first legal opposition within the structure. Artists preaching approach , free from excessive strictness of the Soviet ideology . They appeal to a different, more relaxed , lyrical painting style , to urban landscapes and still lifes .
