Canaletto and Fedor Alekseev - masters of the urban landscape

Two remarkable painter Canaletto and F.Ya. Alekseev painted landscapes of Venice, St. Petersburg, Moscow, London, they found a repeatable style for his works.

  In the 1800's. Alekseev - already the head of a promising class of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts (since 1802) returned to his beloved theme of St. Petersburg. But now addicted to the holistic harmony of space paintings from the artist changed much interest to the world of people and their lives against the backdrop of the same beautiful palaces and the wide Neva River. In his works appeared as though the noise of the city. People with their daily activities now occupy the entire foreground of paintings. Antonio Canal was born Oct. 7, 1697 in Venice. He studied painting with his father, Bernardo Channels, theater artist. In 1719 he visited Rome, where he became acquainted with the work of the famous vedutista Giovanni Paolo Pannini. Then began to write his famous views of Venice. First well-known researchers to the channels with the author's signature is "Architectural Capriccio (1723). Unlike most artists of that time Canaletto at an early stage of his creative writing his species (Veduta) directly from nature, without preliminary sketches and sketches. Subsequently, he began to write in the studio, using the camera obscura.

Many works by Canaletto were successfully sold to the British, who came to Venice to study. In 1740, this source of income disappeared: the war began the Austrian Succession, and the British were less likely to come to the continent. In 1746, Canaletto went to London to be closer to the distribution channels of his paintings. During the nine years he lived in England, wrote kinds of local castles and houses. In 1755 the artist returned to Venice. In 1763 he was elected to the Venice Academy of Arts. Canaletto died April 19, 1768 in his native Venice, leaving in his canvases for us unforgettable views of the fantastic city.
