Anna Matveeva Blagodatov talked to Nicholas that he just loved
Collector to be honorable, to be a collector of prestige. Who collects contemporary art? Rich people. This is an expensive hobby, alongside the gathering of rare wines and sports cars. When it comes to collecting, it inevitably will turn quickly toward investments: collecting art - a way to invest in a product which, if approached to create a collection of the mind, as the years go up. Bought for a ruble - sold for three. I bought a picture of the artist at a beggar, and he was ten years to twenty-take may be glorified, and this early picture is worth more than the cost of all the same artist together at the time of purchase. Educated collectors hire experts, consult with art, at any of the existing artists to bet. But it is different. Actually, most collecting was born and born in another sense, it is very simple: "I like it, I want it." Issue of investment takes the stage later, in the corps de ballet. Primary impulse - the desire to have sunk into the soul thing. And not necessarily the thing: the very involvement in the bohemian environment - for people "outside" cultural adventure, and the purchase of art becomes a kind of admission fee to this strange world, for friendship, sharing drinking, intoxication opening days and talk into the night. Romanticized by most bohemian flair of nowhere, the opportunity to observe the creative process alive - in this case the goods, however, and perhaps more attractive than those material traces that it leaves on its own: the paintings, prints and sculptures. Collectors of this type prevailed in the USSR (for obvious reasons: the prices were lower, the value of friendship in the absence of other values - above, the gap between customers, "those who can afford it," from the producers of art - less). These are the collection of George Kostakis, Norton Dodge, many Russian collectors. Now they are in the minority, but the most extensive collection of Soviet times have come to the level where the work on themselves. They have one very attractive feature: these collectors are much less conscious than collectors, investors and build collections, collecting them on a "what I see - that I sing." That is, they almost without intervention reflected the era. The value of such collections is not only aesthetic, but first of all historical: they can be used to write textbooks, based on them, you can create a museum (in fact the main problem with the creation of the Museum of Modern Art in Russia - just what historical concept will be put in their base, and then she already there, ready). Patriarch Nicholas St. Petersburg collectibles Blagodatov began collecting unofficial art in 1975. Purely out of love: it is he - the young Soviet engineer, was interested in modern art - just loved it. Now in its collection of over 3,000 works, and it continues to grow. Among the authors whose works are there, - Alexander Aref, Richard Vasmi, Shalom Schwartz, Mr Shahin, Vadim Ovchinnikov, Anatoly Basin, Vladlen Gavrilchik Solomon Rossin, Mitka, Timur Novikov, Oleg Kotelnikov, of contemporary artists - Anna Acorn, Peter Shvetsov .......
