Artist Alexander Buchkuri was born in 1870 in the village Buturlinovka Bobrovsky County Voronezh. First Teacher - Leonid Solovyov. From 1899 g.volnoslushatel High School of Art at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts. Repin himself helped him hone skills. In 1904 Buchkuri received the official title of the artist, and in 1905 at the Spring Fair in St. Petersburg, was awarded the Prize Arkhip Kuinji. Most of his works are stored in Voronezh. Since 1919 he taught at the Free art workshops. His disciples - Mikhail Likhachev, Arkadiy Vasilyev, Vasili Belopol'skii, Boris Thymine. He died in 1942 in occupied Voronezh.

1)) of the disciples Repin, who is now heard everywhere, in Voronezh were three: 1) Alexander himself Buchkuri, 2) his wife Vassa Epifanova (20.8.1870 - 5.08.1942), and 3) her classmate Elena Kiseleva (1878 -- 1974). The latter, due to the fact that she lived an extraordinarily long life in exile for five years before his death, sought out Yugoslav critics - and she managed to give Voronezh Museum, that she had survived. By the way, though, for example, A. Gerasimov put Vassa Epifanova even higher than her husband, her work, I do not know ...

2)) There are several memoirs plan stories and memories (both published and word of mouth transmitted) about the last days Buchkuri and his wife.
... The summer of 1942 the Germans were going fast. Voronezh bombed. Plants and everything else was evacuated. Storage prewar owls. art destroyed and burned. Museum values and old paintings (including works Buchkuri who were in the Museum and who then returned and survived) - was sent to Omsk.
Old Buchkuri buried box-boxes with the works and the works of his wife. Buried, apparently, not all at once and with different assistants (his disciples). My wife almost did not go.
    So ... One wrote: I helped to bury ... and when the spring of 1943 began to look for - and found nothing ... The other wrote the same thing ... Third ... Some witnesses say that when the order was given to the Germans, who did not have time to leave, to clear the city of 24 hours, Buchkuri with a sick wife to do so failed and they were shot directly at them the same in the garden. Other witnesses say, write that when driving the remaining sandy log to the firing squad, saying it had seen the old man Buchkuri in this crowd was taking his wife types on a trolley in this log ... I do not shoot in the garden, along with all of Sandy Logua. Similarly, until now no one knows.

But the old painters (friends of his boon companions, with whom he was doing all sorts of hack-work for the collective farms) * say the next thing before anyone else (the city released in January, and dug up - looking for work - in the spring ) trunks dug Andrew H. and somehow ferried to their relatives in America ...
