In the 30s, both were arrested and persecuted for the Trotskyist activity.
Daniel was the head of the General Political Department of Water Transport, one of the closest associates of Trotsky. Vladimir survived - the rest of his life in Tomsk, he taught at the university. Daniel was shot.
