Paul Cezanne
French artist postimpressionist January 19, 1839 - October 22, 1906 Paul Cezanne was born on January 19, 1839 in France, in Aix-en-Provence, a wealthy bourgeois family. He studied at the College Bourbon, where he met Emile Zola, the future famous writer. Then Paul went to the University of Aix, but left it to devote himself to painting. Despite the fact that his father disapproved of the act's son, however, he did not deny him in the media, which is quite enough to live. The first period of the artist (1860-1872) called baroque or romantic. In this period of "In the rooms," "Girl at the piano." Cézanne studied at the School of Fine Arts in Aix-en-Provence, and then visited Paris, where he became acquainted with impressionist painter Camille Pissarro, Renoir, Monet and Sisley. Came the second period in the work of Cezanne - impressionistic. Participated in several exhibitions of Impressionist Cézanne was unsuccessful, and Cezanne began to find their own style of painting. In this he was helped by Camille Pissarro, who was a good teacher. This period is still life "Flowers in a blue vase." The peak of skill of the artist began painting, written in 1879-1888, respectively, in the so-called constructive period. This is "Pierrot and Harlequin," "Fruit". The next period is called synthetic (1888-1899). Cezanne creates a well-known story, portrait and landscape paintings ("Bathers," "Lady in Blue") and still lifes ("Still Life with Drapery"). Since 1900, Cézanne wrote spontaneous pictures, that is, without a preconceived composition. At the same time it comes to recognition, he exhibited his paintings at the World Exhibition in Paris. Paul Cezanne died October 22, 1906 in his hometown of Aix-en-Provence, after a long illness. Cezanne would know how fabulous the equivalent of the descendants will appreciate his talent. Still Life "Curtain, jug and a dish of fruit" (1893-1894) ranks sixth in the list of 500 most expensive works of art sold in the last 20 years. The cost of this painting at the time of the last sale in 1999 was 60.5 million U.S. dollars!
