Three years after the death of the great Bulgarian artist, born in Burgas, Georgi Baev - Djurlata his co-citizens will remember about him with an exhibition of his works, organized by the Municipality of Burgas. The artworks will be exposed from the 19th of October till the 19th of November at the Art Gallery of Bourgas "Petko Zadgorski" /Mitropolit Simeon 24 St. /.


 The exposition will display 39 works of Georgi Baev, including 21 paintings in oils, 13 watercolors and five lithographs. They are part of the private collection of Boyan Radev - a close friend of the artist.

 The exhibition will be officially opened tomorrow at 7 pm at "P. Zdgorski" Gallery.

 Georgi Baev /1924-2007 /is a Bulgarian artist - marine painter, born in Burgas. He is a Painting graduate at the Art Academy in Sofia in the class of Academician Ilia Petrov and Professor Dechko Uzunov. By the year 1960 , his work included mainly graphics and stage design in the puppet theater in Burgas. His first international recognition came in 1957 at the World Youth Festival in Moscow. It was followed by dozens of exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, many awards, membership in the Union of Bulgarian Artists, the Austrian group of artists "Kunstler House", the Japan Association of Artists "Nika-kai". Difficult moment in his life came in 1983 when his studio ignited and the fire burned everything. This did not brake his spirit however and in the next year he was ready to show some of his best art works. Prof. Peter Vunderly defined him as one of the greatest humanists of Europe and the world. In 1986 , Baev won the Herder Prize of the Vienna Academy of Arts. He was also presented in 34 -volume Dictionary of Art London, published by Macmillan, repeatedly nominated for "Man of the Year", "People with influence", "Who-Who" of American and English curricula institutes. His paintings have been purchased or donated and are currently kept in many places in Bulgaria and abroad.
