Assumption - one of the twelve great church holidays - on 15th August , Old Style , 28 August a new way. From August 1 , Old Style or 14 August to begin a new two-week rigorous Dormition Fast .

On the Assumption of Our Lady did not mention in the Bible , but the story of this event is stored in the Tradition of the Church and is expressed in the icon of the Feast and the church services.

In some European countries : the Netherlands, France and others - the day of the Dormition of the Mother of God (August 15) is a national holiday and day off.
