По умолчанию Restorer discovered an unknown work of Holbein

American restorer named Marco Grassi received for clearing the heavily impacted by the time the picture by an unknown artist XVI century and found that it was written in about 1530 portrait of Erasmus of Rotterdam, the brush of Hans Holbein the Younger. Rotterdam Museum Boijmans - van Beuningen already included a picture in the exhibition "Portraits of Erasmus," reports The Art Newspaper. Ibid 23 January 2009 will be a symposium of specialists on Holbein, who will try to come to a consensus regarding the identification of the picture.
The newly discovered portrait of Erasmus has similarities with the analogues, now stored in Basel and London, as well as some differences, which may indicate that the picture painted a pupil or follower of Holbein.

Zurich collector, owner of the newly discovered portrait by Holbein the Younger purchased it at auction in Paris house Drouot-Richelieu in September 2000 for two thousand euros.

As it turned out, the picture came up for auction from the family of Princess Marie de de Robeh Levi-Mirepoix, the last representative of the family Lamoignon. Lamoignon same in 1721, inherited a collection Denteviley. The representative of the old aristocratic French family by the name of Jean de Dentevil depicted in the famous double portrait of "Ambassadors" brushes Holbein the Younger (a collection of London's National Gallery). As the columnist The Art Newspaper, combine the portrait of Erasmus and family Denteviley may be premature, but it is very tempting.

The market value of the portrait, if the author of Holbein be proved, is estimated at tens of millions of euros.
