auction of old masters Christie's brought 36.6 million dollars

Auction of Old Masters Christie's, held the evening of 26 January in New York, brought 36.6 million dollars, according to the website auction house. Top-lot auction was the picture of the Italian artist Luca Karlevarisa "View of the pier, Venice, sold for $ 4 million.
The auction was held in two sessions (paintings and drawings). In the first, as the precise Reuters, were sold two-thirds of the 74 lots offered at auction. Among the most expensive paintings were the work of Jean-Honore Fragonard, Jean-Francois Millet, Ambrosius Bosharta and Jean-Leon Gerome, sold for 1,4 - 1,6 million dollars each.

Among the drawings the most expensive lot was the work "Portrait of a Man, attributed to Michael Zittovu. This drawing was sold for 866.5 thousand dollars, while the preliminary assessment does not exceed 120 thousand. Most of the deceased with a hammer works acquired by collectors in the U.S. and Europe.

New York Christie's auction opened the week trading the old masters. Today, 27 January, will hold its auction of Sotheby's. The most important lot of trades this auction (and throughout the week) will be a picture of Titian's "Madonna and Child", estimated at $ 20 million.
