Almost every second Russian believes that there is no intellectual

MOSCOW, April 16 - Reuters. Most Russians believe that the intelligentsia did not have much influence on events in the country, and about half the population does believe that the intelligentsia in Russia has almost disappeared, poll shows "Levada-Center ".

According to the center, 30%of respondents believe that intellectuals do not have any effect on what is happening in Russia today (in 2006 the figure was 40%), while 41%say that this influence is not "very large" (in 2006 - 39%).

In contrast, 17%of respondents believe that the intelligentsia has a great influence on events in the country (in 2006 - 14%).

According to 43%of Russians, now the Russian intelligentsia consists of professors, academicians, scientists, researchers, five years ago was considered as 33%of Russians. 34%of Russians believe the intelligentsia of teachers, 31%- Writers - 29%doctors, 29%- of artists, entertainers and other representatives of creative professions, 21%- of journalists.

In this case, according to a survey, 49%of Russians believe that the intelligentsia in Russia has almost disappeared. Do not agree to 38%of Russians.

The survey was conducted on 16-19 March 2012 on a representative nationwide sample of urban and rural population of 1633 people aged 18 and over 130 localities 45 regions of the country.
