Recently came across an interesting article by Jeremy Clarkson.
This British journalist and television host in Russia is known for the transfer of Top Gear. He is not only well versed in cars, but also writes a weekly, sometimes provocative note to the Sunday times. Here is the translation of Igor Maltsev one of them. Galleries enough, but where art to fill them? Opening a new gallery of Charles Saatchi in London led to think about one problem. In England, has divorced so many galleries that art at all is not enough. The first time we faced a similar phenomenon, when the Guggenheim Museum was built, like a huge golden hat on his head unremarkable industrial city in northern Spain. This is an amazing building, and it is very good, because inside it is not anything remarkable. When I visited the museum a few years ago, in the exhibition were presented a triangle, a small maze and cassock. During questioning, I found that the most popular exhibition, which has ever held in the museum, was an exhibition of motorcycles. But the painful virus have already went for a walk on the planet. In all the dark satanic mills and factories in Britain, which had deteriorated after the fall of the empire, pootkryvat art galleries. Initially, this idea even a matter of respect. But think for yourself, how much of the art is in Gateshead, or Walsall? In rural pubs you will be encouraged to support "local artists". We'll iron them on the head, called scribble a masterpiece, and ask how they figured to paint with your eyes closed. And then make the legs. The fact that the most valuable work of British artists are Japanese banks in the storehouses. Others are hanging in the Tate Gallery and National Museum. So before turning dead plant in Glossop in the bright palace of art, you have to decide where to find all this art, which you are going to hang on the wall. Curated exhibitions can turn its attention to the American artist Maurizio Cattelan. Recently, he carved a statue of the pope in full growth, representing the pope at a time when he was struck by a meteorite, a broken ceiling of the gallery. Even he has a replica of the Washington memorial to the soldiers who died in Vietnam - only instead of the names of the fallen soldiers memorial written pa matches, losing the England national football team. But with him, too, can cause problems. Recently, his eight-rabbit hung by the ears, bought for 200 000 pounds sterling. If the buyer was the mayor of Walsall, then we would have to watch the interesting reaction of voters. Because nowadays everything is measured as incubators for newborns, and salaries for teachers, if the mayor has spent two hundred pieces of rabbit, then the newspaper would have rinsed his name in full. Even Saatchi have to struggle for survival. For obvious reasons, he was never able to find pictures of bells and rural type of local artists, so his gallery packed with any nonsense that unsophisticated man perceives only as leftovers, bedding, trash and pornography. At the opening of the gallery entrance are two hundred of naked people, and it was all so strange that the actress Helen Baksendeyl said she now knows how to talk to Tracey Emin in case "she wrote to me, or do something in this kind. In the room the guests could admire the cut shark-filled waste oil room and enjoy the sight of severed cow's head to thrive inside the flies and worms. Such high art gives hope to the owners of the provincial galleries - at least half of the exposition can be found at the local butchers and fishermen. But it is unlikely to suit us with you. The horror is that (thanks for that Saatchi and especially Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen (British interior designer, leading to channel the popular BBC program Changing Rooms), that now everyone will hang something in their wall and think, this is a rental. Not a rental. In my living room wall hangs a lovely painting. It grazing cows near the river a misty morning. I can understand what is depicted in this picture, because its written by man wielding a brush so that cows, and the river, and mist is easy to learn. Unfortunately, this picture reminds me that I did not have time to move in step with the times. So I have to remove the cows and nailed to the wall of one of my dogs. Or draw a baguette Sunday dinner and hang it in a conspicuous place. And the devil knows what to do. I could get a portrait of Myra Hindley, painted sheep turd. But I have to lay out for him 150 000 pounds. My Flat in London, in the spirit of minimalism - it is clean and spacious. Bare wooden floors, clean walls, painted a new shade of pink a la Barbie, only lighter. If his picture was placed in a magazine on design, then people would pay five pounds, only to see how it looks in reality. Each time, crossing the threshold, I think that ought to somehow beat. And people who live below me, probably think that I would have been nice and put carpets. There is another problem. The situation is very suitable under the current "designer" fashion, but fashion changes quickly - then you have to throw wooden floors and start all over again. It's one thing when fashion concerns pants for half a ruble. But when it comes to the whole house in general, agree that this is another story. And that is why my cows in the mist still hanging in its rightful place. Real art, like real jeans, never goes out of fashion. You will never hear: "Oh, it's Mona Lisa! She no longer rolls.

I think Saatchi will survive as long as Russia is full of nepugannyh rich idiots willing to buy it all. By the way, he recently brought a stale product that failed to sell in Europe and America. I wonder whether he succeeded to sell something in reality? Most likely, yes.

I am glad that NATA NOVA wrote that I tried myself to say last week about the hands unknown to me electricians, mehannikov and carpenters. It is true, then it somehow in these ideas have not permeated.
Black box again impossible, since it was first. And, besides, "Square" is not monochrome, and has a smooth texture, as drawings of some "great" Aussie Rules "artists" in 50-80 years of 20 century. British journalist, of course, not an expert in contemporary art (like myself). But how long will be able to deceive the people, by such masterpieces as otfotoshoplennye photo wallpaper? (see the topic about Sovrem. Amer. art). Let these people and rich. No queues at the following shows: - figure. Turner (in the Pushkin Museum) last fall, much people crowd. Although Turner - this is not Shishkin and Aivazovsky - known, familiar and understandable to the masses artists. |
