Default Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938)

I decided to make several sets of pictures of the German expressionism.

The first story - Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the founder of one of the most significant avant-garde movements of the early twentieth century - a group of "Bridge" (Die Brücke).

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was born in Bavaria. After school, from 1901 to 1905 gg.on to deal with their parents studied architecture in Dresden, then in Munich. In 1905, Kirchner and his sokrursniki, Fritz Bliley, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Erich Hekel, founded the group "Most", which aimed to deprive the official academic style and find a new way of expression, which would become a "bridge" between past and present. Kirchner believed that art should not be imposed, the official canons, as they impede the free expression of emotions of the artist, his self-consciousness. For more spontaneity in the works he used a quick picture without amendment, bright, clean or malosmeshannye color.

In 1906, the group was composed of Emil Nolde (released in 1911) and Max Pechstein. To it was close and Kees van Dongen, who served as a connecting link between the German "bridge" and French artists.

This movement was intended to give a contemporary response to the great artist of the German Renaissance - Albrecht Durer, Matthias Grunewald - revived, in particular, the traditional technique of woodcuts. In addition to the old German masters, these artists have been heavily influenced by "primitive" art, which at this time "discovered" in Europe, as well as post-impressionism.

Manifesto Group, engraved on a tree, called for "freedom to work and in life." In 1906. In Dresden, she organized the first exhibition of the "Bridge", which dominated women nude - a favorite subject of artists. In 1911, Kirchner settled in Berlin, where, together with Max Pechstein, he founded the Institute MIYUM (MIUM), which assumed to teach art in a modern manner. But next year the institution was closed.

In 1913 the Museum Folkwang in Essen held a personal exhibition Kirchner, at which have been exposed to scenes of Berlin life - characters on the streets, in cabarets, in urban gardens ... In the same year the group "Most" was disbanded due to disagreements among its members.

At the beginning of the war, in 1915, the artist went to the front as a volunteer, but was soon reformed due to pulmonary disease and depression. In 1917 he went to Switzerland for medical treatment.
Settling in Davos, he radically changed the plot structure of his pictures: there he wrote exclusively scenes of rural life in the mountains - modern life, according to him, filled him with loathing of its shallowness. In 1920-ies. He became a very famous painter: his exhibitions are regularly held, was a consolidated catalog of his work, and in 1928 he was presented at the Venice Biennale.

Find on the internet play anything that goes beyond the period of "bridge" and "Blue Rider" for nearly all artists of German ekspressmionizma (except Kandinsky, of course, Nolde, to a lesser extent Yavlensky, perhaps, Beckman), it is very difficult, I try, but sometimes quite elusive.
I'm laid out to you almost 30-ies, well, very end of the 20's, so do not complain

At Sotheby's will sell interesting work Kirchner, it is curious that when it is compared with the description of Matisse and Van Dongen. I think that this process of association to mean that while the German Expressionists are in the process of being approved at the auction Olympus, and their prices will still rise. Some analysts even predict that they can reach peers prices Impressionists.
Here a great video with top auction lots http://www.sothebys.com/video/privat...002/index.html

What am I to you all the time and talking (with emphasis on Nolde)!
As to whether they achieved the level of the Impressionists, do not know, but won, look, Klimt and Schiele - two bills caught up with and overtake America, everything is possible

Upon learning of his expulsion by the Nazis from the Academy and the confiscation of his works Kirchner wrote on Feb. 13, 1938:
Quote:
"I am deeply shocked by the German event, but am proud to be brown kartinobortsy persecuted and humiliated, and also my work. I would consider myself to shame if they treated me tolerant "
The volume created by Kirchner in Switzerland in 1918-1938 years in painting, drawing, plastic and decorative arts was enormous, much of this heritage is represented in the Kirchner Museum in Davos next to the Frauenkirche. Here's a site, but alas, almost no pictures: http://www.kirchnermuseum.ch/4636/index.html

Someone is going to Davos economic forum in ?
