Today the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Prize PinchukArtCentre - Prize of Contemporary Art, which is awarded to young Ukrainian artists under 35 years. Its purpose is to support and develop a new generation of young Ukrainian artists.

The international jury, comprising eminent experts of the leading art institutions, including Francesco Bonami (Italy), Udo Kittelmana (Germany), Jessica Morgan (UK) and Ukrainian artists Sergei Bratkov and
Boris Mikhailov, the holders of selected primary and two special awards among 20 applicants.

Main Prize - 100 000 hryvnia - got Kharkovian Artem Volokitin, who proposed a spotlight paintings from series "Teenagers" and "Hero." The award was handed artist chuck Awards - British artist Damien Hirst.

"All children draw, and most of them are no longer paint, when grow up. Therefore, any encouragement for us is of great importance, especially for young artists. I looked at the exhibition today. The quality of works presented in the exhibition - an incredibly high. And I'm sure the judges was a very difficult task for a decision ", - said Hurst during the ceremony.

Two special awards - for 25 000 hryvnia each got Salmanov Alexei and Masha Shubina.

In addition, holders of principal and two special prizes, besides monetary rewards, will have an opportunity during the month to undergo training in the workshops of world-famous artists: Andreas Serrano (Andreas Serrano), New York, Olafur Eliasson (Olafur Eliasson) in Berlin and Anthony Gormley ( Antony Gormley) in London.

Prize of the public in the amount of UAH 10 000. received a group BLUEMOLOKO with the works "Ukrliniya" and "Islands". The winner in this category was determined by voting visitors 20 nominees in PinchukArtCentre from October 29 to November 29, 2009. As a special guest, awards, was invited to Wladimir Klitschko.
