You are absolutely right!
Many realistic picture "look" and "attract" only through technology but no more. There's no creativity - there craft.
Creativity is when technology letters thing supporting, self-evident, significant or not but Pale thoughts, feelings and ideas of the artist.
If the canvas says only the ability to paint - a picture is dead, alas.

What is the soul and technology gnarled toilets and garbage cans?

I would call such work and craft, and no more. And with a poor level of picture!
