Where a year and a half ago, my friend from the USA gave me this picture of this Oscar Rabin. Myself I would never buy because nonconformists I do not like. Not all of course. Tselkov Krasnopevtsev for me, and interior painting, see the work of Rabin and fall into depression, too dramatic, just want to drink vodka. But Veisberg love, I have had it work. So here
First I would like to sell it, but looking at the rise in prices for Rabin, did not do it. And I think correctly. Something about the picture: Sam canvas completely pulls the age of 30-40-year canvas. Nails also those times, some of them rusty. Frame according to the tree, too, in those years. The painting itself is covered with a sort of varnish, which from time curled. I had such a picture. Especially the old, which was covered with low-quality paint, such as parquet, and he removed it. Or it occurred from improper storage of pictures, constant temperature difference. Painting itself in good condition, smear distinct, very pasty, on the back of the canvas is number 78. Size 40x50 cm, 1971. And the impression that the painting was originally larger size and then somehow cut off. It was bought by my friend several years ago in a good antique shops in Chicago. I want to ask - someone knows grandfather Rabin? In order to show him photographs of this painting. What will he say? His work there? Only bother me one case of which I laughed and horror in her eyes told a familiar gallery owner. They brought Rabin to Paris a few pictures on the attribution. And these pictures were for a long time he had personally purchased and some of them even signed by one person. So Oscar Yakovlevich did not recognize any of his authorship, nor the man who had bought the paintings, and to whom these pictures he signed. I would not like this. And to go to the experts at living author - a sacrilege. Well, ask and evaluate. |

I am a little surprised by your story with "neopoznaniem" Oscar of its work, it is unlikely, but it does not matter.
Of course, I can show him a picture of your picture. Actually, before he was register of all his works, and probably continues to do so. Here are just Valya was very ill, I know, may have to wait a bit. Was this attribution is needed urgently? |

Konstantin,
Vain ... I think that in Russia and in particular among the many gallery owners are short on Rabin. There is only one expert - Rabin himself. I think that the comrades from France I will show you pictures of this work to the artist himself. But okay. Let people in the galleries will look .... |

I am very confused by a few too smooth contours. In Rabin, at least in the Soviet period, everything was more nervous. But in recent years has become closer to you.
If hurried questions to the gallery - sorry. The answers, if they are before you send it to disclose. |

Konstantin,
Everything can be ... Photos are unsuccessful, a new photograph, and show. In my opinion the work rather gloomy and nervous, "all" in rabinovski and age corresponds to its year. Similarly, I can say that the artificial aging, it is not exposed. |

Interesting. Looks exactly liked a flipped copy of City of fish 1959.
Art. 36 <<Oscar Rabin>> Palace Editions which can be purchased at Art 4. It's part of Zimmerli /Rutgers collection. Not very well portrayed the fish: ( |
