Russian artist, painting and drawing, a spokesman for Russian "unofficial" art.
Born in Moscow on May 10, 1931. Raised by his mother, a seamstress. He started his working career as a shepherd (when the family was evacuated near Kashira) and subsequently changed a lot of jobs, including as a stoker at the zoo. After the war, visiting a children's art school, but had to leave the class for a living. Was largely self-taught. Lived mainly in Moscow, as well as in the village Zhelnino under Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad). He took part in the movement of the "other art" since 1958, when it hosted the first exhibition (at MSU). Displaying his works in the City of graphs since as "nonconformists" was given (in 1975) right there on display.
Identity joined the tradition of "naive art" and symbolist paintings-vision (in the spirit of "Blue Rose") with a point, puantilistskoy manner of writing, and later - with reminiscences of medieval sewing pearls. Among his paintings are the two thematic groups: fabulous, sometimes grotesque images of some romantic country, mainly the earlier (March of the Dwarfs, 1957, private collection, Moscow; Purple fantasy, 1959, the Museum "Other Art" at the Russian State University for the Humanities, Moscow ), and also romantic and fabulous, but going back to the Christian iconography of the painting with a miniature temples, figures of angels and saints in the typical landscape of the Central Russian-(Contemplation, 1973, ibid Gold Russia 1981, Approximation of the mysterious planet, 1982, both work - in Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Jersey, United States, I do not know, 1986, Tretyakov Gallery). In the early years, as well as in the later period of pure abstractions often wrote in his last decade - with a bright, sparkling color schemes, in which he sought to visually reproduce the music of Mozart and other favorite composers.
There was also a virtuoso drawing: for decades, creating a simple pencil-thin silver track "Lace" - with the same religious symbolism in the semi-fantastic landscapes.
Kharitonov has died in Moscow on February 5, 1993.
