Son and pupil of the famous Antwerp painter Frederic Bautatsa Elder (1600-1661) , specialized in the creation of " raĭskih " peĭzazheĭ with mythological figures and bibleĭskih personazheĭ obilnoĭ animalistikoĭ and in the spirit of Jan Breĭgelya Velvet and Rulanta Savereya . He worked primarily in Antwerp, where he painted a relatively large size in the manner of his father. Judging by product masterskoĭ had bolshoĭ staff of assistants.
Currently, the master's works are in museums in Bamberg and Aschaffenburg , as well as in trade antikvarnoĭ different countries.

In the picture we see bibleĭskuyu scene with numerous animals and birds on the background of peĭzazha , to be more precise it is an illustration of the Old Testament scenes on kotoroĭ Noĭ zvereĭ and herding the birds into the ark . Zvuchnyĭ color and style of performance is good reason to see a picture of a sample harakternyĭ flamandskoĭ painting of the XVII century , nesuscheĭ the stamp of a strong and direct influence of art by Jan Breĭgelya Velvet and Frederick Bautatsa . Author of the picture , of course, belonged to the podrazhateleĭ Bautatsa Elder, who worked in Antwerp in vtoroĭ half of the XVII century and created works in the " manner" of Jan Breĭgelya , polzovavsheĭsya great success with several pokoleniĭ local and foreign collectors .

Leading experts from around the world have come to the conclusion that the work is created in masterskoĭ Jacob Bautatsa and style can be matched with other pieces of his art assistants , for example, in November of the same image of animals and birds on peĭzazha ( oil on wood . × 49 65 cm, pass sales at auction «Dorotheum» in Vienna in 2007 , Lot No 265). The picture came to us in a very good condition. Paints put shedra and pasty and produce halo effect . Facing each other layers of glaze perfectly preserved, especially on the foliage of trees and bushes on the side of the road and give the film its distinctive spatial depth . Typical paint in their brightness caused by fast strokes, fluent and sharp.

We look with a slightly raised dots on a crowded rural landscape. In the foreground on the left picture a small lake with ducks , reeds framed on the left and on the right a low hill. On this hill is growing curved tree , whose leaves thickly studded crown reaches the upper edge of the picture . On the far shore of the lake we see a few geese and ducks. Left married couple watches the brawl that unfolded on the ground in front of the two houses , which are seen behind a lush canopy of trees . Another couple standing in front of the house, the roof, which partially covers the described tree . In the doorway stands one man, and one on the right looks out the window.

On the right edge of the picture along the row of houses on the middle distance road stretches and takes us to the church. Ahead on the road stroll nobly dressed gentlemen, and run two dogs , black and white . Before lined up houses cheerfully plays the piper , calling facing couples dance. Right at the edge of the picture on the side of the road sits a couple , and the three men with musical instruments at the ready stood before the open door of the rightmost house, part of which is cut off by the edge of the picture , behind the left - hilly landscape. A long procession to the church , going to the left. Some of the demonstrators carried red flags. At the roadside located onlookers and watch the action . Close to two horses pulling covered wagon run by a man sitting on the horse's left . On the steeple of the church bell tower waving a red flag. Above this vibrant landscape stretches of bright blue sky, thickly covered with clouds. In van den Berghe in compositionally and in the similarity of subject matter there are similarities with the following works : "The Village on the River ", oil on copper , 11,5 × 16,5 cm, monogram CVB. The Hague, Mauritshuis , "Winter" , oil on copper , 11,5 × 16,5 cm, monogram CVB. The Hague, Mauritshuis . Pointillistic paintings reminiscent of Impressionist technique . However, the plot and spatial expression in Christoffel van den Berghe is still firmly tied to the Flemish tradition XVII century, in particular the fineness of detail and desire for his beloved idol, Jan Brueghel the Elder.

Judging by the nature of painting and landscape typology and melkofigurnogo staffage , this work is performed , about the first half of the 1620s . The picture is different professional level of performance and , of course, has a museum value .

East European Antique House invites you to a unique exhibition " Old Master Paintings from the Collection Basil Goryashchenko ."

The entire collection , which consists of 140 works will be on display for three days only from 29 November to 1 December, 11.00 - 19.00 - in Mouravieff Apostles at Ul. Old Basmannaya, 23/9 , p.1 .

First will be presented to the museum's masterpieces of Dutch, Flemish , Italian schools of painting XVI-XVII centuries . The largest collection of Russian collector .

Paintings in this collection are well known in the art, many of which have been published repeatedly in domestic and foreign scientific literature , as well as catalogs of various exhibitions . In particular, many paintings collected by the collector, joined the representative exhibition " Portraits collectors. Russian and Western European art from the private collections of Moscow ", carried out in the framework of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of AS Pushkin Museum Pushkin in spring 2012.
