In London, found a picture with the first image of the guinea pig in Europe, according to British newspaper Metro. Under assumptions of experts, the painting was created around 1580. Portrait of children holding hands on the animal, found in the National Portrait Gallery in London in preparation for the exhibition devoted to the Elizabethan era.

Author picture depicting three children, five, six and seven years of a noble family (this can be judged by their clothing and jewelry), is unknown. Portrait titled "Three Elizabethan unknown child" gallery borrowed from an unknown private collector.

"Although archaeological evidence of the discovery of guinea pigs in Europe are rare in Hilton Hall in Essex during the excavation of the Elizabethan manor time were found fragments of the skeleton of the guinea pig, preserved from 1575," - said the representative of London's National Portrait Gallery.
